8/IV/24 - 37.5cl bottle from the brewery, shared @ Barjac (FR), BB: 9/VI/27, 20-21 version (2024-219) - Tasted side by side with 20-21 version, preferred the 20-21.

Clear light orange to gold blond beer, no head. Aroma: lots of brett up front, wood notes, funky, wild yeasty, slightly dirty touch. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: good bitterness, very dry, tannins, more bitterness, fruity notes, a bit earthy, good acidity, a bit lemony. Aftertaste: a bit spicy, minerals, a little sweet, herbal, funky, good bitterness, some tannins, more lemony, zesty, dry finish. Not sure if I would be able to guess the grapes if it were a blind tasting.

Bouteille 37.5cl, BB 02/06/2031.

Bottle from the Meerts box, Hopduvel. Hazy orange, thin, white head. Aroma of grape skin, ripe nectarine, rhubarb, gooseberry, wet wood, vinegar, furniture. Taste has sour grape, rhubarb & gooseberry around a funky core of citric, bit lactic acid and sourdough malt. Tart, mouth-puckering finish, lingering grape juice, woody tannins and dry grape seed. Medium body, moussy texture, average carbonation. Refreshingly acidic and sufficiently dry, very good.

Bottle. Quite similar to the one from last year, though this year’s seems to be fuller and sweeter, still mostly funk and light lambic with soft fruit and tannins. Great.

Hazy, gold colour. Tart, earthy, very good. Low grape character on this one, relative to some others.

A taster shared with Josh, Matt, Phill, and Ryan during FHF with priceless Rachel's (yup, again!) help in organizing all the mess with glasses. Appearance: hazy golden (surprisingly). Aroma: funky, fruity. Taste: same. Overall: good.

Peach to copper in colour with no head. Starts really tangy and quite acidic. The sweetness of the grape really comes through in the finish. Aftertaste of grape skins, becomes slightly tannic and dry.
