50cl bottle from the Sainsbury’s Beer Hunt range. Amber with a compact cream head; aroma of ginger and lemon; fresh taste with ground ginger and lemon; and a underlying herbal bitterness. A pleasant and refreshing summer ale.

An amber beer with a frothy head. It’s got a very dry citrus and ginger flavour though the aroma is almost stronger than the taste. If you let it sit on the tongue it’s almost like lemonade. An odd but likeable beer.

500ml bottle from Sainsburys Ashford. Clear amber not much head. Smells of a bitter shandy, tastes of bitter shandy with a bit more bitterness coming in from the ginger. Quite a lasting bitter ginger finish. So lemon up front, ginger, carbonic acid and bitterness on finish. Yep, not very good to be honest.

Chelmsford Beer Festival. Hazy gold beer. Good suddy white head. Light dry palate. Nice flavour - as much ginger as it is lemon. Fresh and tantalising but the palate is over dry, especially on the finish.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 4/07/2011. Pale amber with a slight, off-white head. Bready Malts, a touch of ginger and no lemon, leading to a moderately bitter finish [3.0]. Ok. RE-RATE: bottled version - worse, with too much lemon and an odd mix of a full strength beer that tastes like a shandy [2.6]

(Cask at Castle, Chancery Lane, London, 19 May 2010) Golden colour with brief, white head. Fruity, malty nose with biscuity malt and citrus. Fruity, malty taste with notes of lemon, biscuits, grass and a balanced citrussy bitterness in the finish. Below medium body, sweetish. Refreshing but rather one dimensional.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 18th May 2010. Gold with very little head. Lemon and ginger abound whilst grassy hop kicks in late. Grassy, herby spicy aftertaste. An entertaining novelty beer.

[Cask at Oakford Social Club, Reading] Gold with a moderate lasting white head. Faint carbonation. A hint of lemon, verging on lime. Some dusty hops. And just a mild gingery aftertaste leaving a rather sticky palatte. It all feels rather toned down and polite. Perfectly drinkable, but rather bland.
