Gesha village in Ethiopia is said to be the birthplace of coffee. Not only does this region offer up the longest coffee history, it also boasts some of the best stuff in the world. This stout is a celebration of that heritage. And a way to show appreciation for some personal close friends in Ethiopia that are part of a handful of incredibly rigorous coffee growers.

Sampled @ Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2018, Day 1. A black beer with a mid sized most good lasting tan head. Aroma of Hazelnut, sweet dark roasted malt, nuts. Taste of hazelnuts, liquorice, boozy dark malt, sugar. Wow.

Thanks! Sampled draft @ Billie’s Beer Festival 2018. Day 1. Drank lots of this one, weird beer concept, AON is so overpowering that the coffee is basically entirely lost, still this is basically AON so it is super tasty. Black with lacing mocha head. Nose is brownie sweet syrup, coffee, mocha, brownie, vanilla, bourbon,… Taste is vanilla, bourbon sugar, mocha, caramel, sweet syrup, there is some high quality coffee doesn’t fully jell into it but that is fine. Pure syrup body, great.

Clear dark black beer, thick beige creamy head, pretty stable, little adhesive. Aroma: lots of roasted hazelnuts, chocolate paste (Nutella), soft roast, lovely stuff. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: nice roast, lots of chocolate, coffee touch, more hazelnut. Aftertaste: bitter, dry, nice roast, good beer!

On tap. Slushie. Pours black with moderate tan head around ice cream. Aromas of coffee ice cream. (The actual ice cream dominates.) Flavors of bitter chocolate, bitter black coffee, cream from the ice cream and dark roasted malts. Interesting. Might be really bitter without the ice cream

Aus der Flasche im 2018-11 getrunken. Unter der dunkelbraunen Schaumkrone strömen sogleich ein kräftiges Kaffeearoma hervor. Am Gaumen mischt sich dann dunkle Schokoladearomen und ein nicht genau definierbare Beerennote hinzu. Im Abgang kommt dann in dieses Stout eine irgendwie feucht-erdige Note hinzu und ein recht trockenes Mundgefühl bleibt zurück. Aber immer noch nicht schlecht doch kann mit dem Selassie aus meiner Sicht keinenfalls konkurieren.

Svart med høyt lys brunt skum. Lukter mørk sjokolade, nøtter og karamellfudge. Middels + i fylde. Smaker lett bitter mørk sjokolade, kakao, kaffe, nøtter, noe vanilje og alkohol. (Omnipollo Soft Serve Sabbath Sunday, Schouskjelleren)
