0.6l bottle shared with ClubGonzo. Pours a hazy deep deep red body with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet caramel, roasted malty notes, blood orange, licorice and hints of licorice. Full-bodied and warming while the texture is quite oily. Medium carbonated. Nice and sweet flavors with caramel, plums and raisins, more blood orange and a hint of licorice in the ending. Leaving a warming alcoholic and slightly fruity aftertaste from the relatively high alcohol percentage - wich me like quite a lot.

Bottle: Poured a medium copper color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of caramelized with light toffee notes. Taste is also dominated by caramel notes with light dry raisins and light toffee. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol which is a bit surprising. Well brewed without being overly complex.

600mL bottle, courtesy of and split with manuchampions, pours a vibrant amber. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits, brown sugar and a little hops. Flavour brings out the sweetness more than anything, with caramel / toffee, dark fruits and brown sugar - hops are not present. Sweetness is not cloying, but I'd perhaps enjoy a little more balance. Still most wonderful.

Cloudy brown beer. Very sweet intense barleywine. Bags of sweet malt alongside a pronounced aniseed spiceyness - presumably from the high abv. A little hop coming through in the finish. The aniseed gets even stronger. The combination of sweetness and the intense aniseed made the beer easy drinking for me!

A hazed reddish brown ale with a thin brown head and floaties. In aroma, a sweet cinnamon malt, papaya pulp, subdued hops, vinous notes. In mouth, a sweet candy sugar with smooth floral hops, very vinous, plums, like a sweet old ale, light coffee notes, loads of alcohol. Rich and smooth. Tasted June 20 2010. Bieropholie import.

2006 bottle pours clear deep ruby like amber with thin tan head. The aroma is smooth aged muted dark fruitiness with cherries, ripe plums, prunes, caramel and sugar coated stewed raisins that really build up with a big draw. The taste is just as smooth as the nose bringing up rich yummy goodness like ripe cherries, ripe aged mashed plums, stewed raisins, dates and figs all covered with a thin layer of caramel. It gets a bit hot into the finish. Wow, this is one tasty brew. I can see drinking some of this on a regular basis.
