Cask at JDW Sir John Hawkshaw, London (30/03/2023) - JDW Spring Beer Fest 2023 (26 of 30 down) - toasted sweet malty and bitter hoppy with notes of caramel and toffee, light citrus fruity undertones, soft cask mouthfeel, malty and bitter hoppy finish. Nice one.

Cask served a bit hote for my liking at The Justice Mill, Aberdeen. It pours clear amber with a sturdy white head. The aroma is muted malt driven aroma , grain, brown bread, earthy, biscuit, leafy, spice and some distant eggy fart. The is dry, bitter, toothy, chewy, malt driven, twiggy, brown bread, malt loaf, fatty, rivita and some distant egginess with a dry, grainy finish. Average body and moderate carbonation. Not a lot to enjoy here tbh.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2023. Amber in colour with a slight, off-white, head. A touch of floral hop, red berry notes, sweet malts, leading to a dryish finish. Good.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading,] An amber pour with a loose white head; candied malty aroma; dry biscuity malt taste to start, then sweeter; with a drier finish with a light floral bitterness. Rather odd.

Clear amber with a frothy white head and a sweet, malty aroma. Malty sweetness and floral hop bitterness nicely balanced, a little thin, some subtle berry fruit coming through and a semi-dry bittersweet finish

Cask at the Hope Tap, Reading. Amber with an off-white head and a light sparkle - decent condition yet again, well done to whoever looks after the cellaring here. Heavy on the fake chocolate syrup and toffee up front before some orange comes through. The malts get increasingly nutty before a moderately bitter twiggy finish.I quite enjoyed it by the end despite the poor start. OK overall, may have suffered by comparison to the Butcombe Vincent I had just before.

Cask @ Barum Top Inn, Halifax. Slightly deeper clear golden with a creamy head. Healthy tasting hoppy brew with a malt base, good body and mild but tasty creamy-sweetness.
