This Scottish Sour Ale was brewed using a variety of malted barley, malted wheat and malted oats. One variety of hop was added to the kettle during the boil.
The beer was fermented with our house strains of Brettanomyces and Cher Ami before being aged in wine barrels for twelve months. We then refermented the sour base with pomegranate and infused the beer with hibiscus for a delicate and complex finish.

Hazy amber-golden pour, almost no head. Aroma is vinegar, pomegranate, flowers. Taste is sour (no surprise here): vinegar, grapefruit, some pomegranate. Pleasant, sour finish.

Bottle, thx Dina! Hazy golden-orange body, not much head, if any. Sour, bretty aroma, bit acetic, vegetal, no pomegranate, no hibiscus I guess. Lean, dry, minerally sour, oak undertones, some vague neutral fruity and flowery touches, but might as well be unflavored, trace acetic touches. Okay.

0.33 l bottle thanks to little Dina, shared with Marko and her. Hazy pale orange, pinkish hue, minimal head. Aroma is intensely fruity, apricot, pomegranate, funky. A touch of lacquer and glue. Vague notes of hibiscus if you look for them. Flavour is sour orange with hibiscus, also stone fruit. Intense sourness, bitter phenols, thin body.

The eleventh of twenty beers for our 10th wedding anniversary. Fátima's. Bottle 0.33l. Lightly cloudy, deep gold colored. AROMA- very funky, sharp, tones of leather, peach, apricot, some overripe fruit, lightly flowery, some vegetable. FLAVOR- neutral, quite very sour, sharp, really funky, goaty, exotic tones of pomegranate, sour pickles. Medium bodied. Well, somewhat wild this one.

Bottle picked up at Dogtap. It pours clear bright pinkish and red with a white head. The aroma is tart, tangy, full of sour red fruit, cranberry, pomegranate, redcurrant, light funk, touch if red wine vinegar and some hibiscus for sure. The taste is crisp, tart, puckering, zingy, sour red fruits, pomegranate, redcurrant cranberry, hibiscus, rosehip, sherbet, fizzy cherry cola bottles, light acidity, touch of funk and oak with a drying finish. Medium body and fine, fizzy carbonation. All comes together well. Very approachable.
