On tap at Der kleine Kartoffelsack, Mittelwald, Friday 25th June 2021. Pours clear gold with a white head. Nice Helles, soft mouthfeel, light fruitiness, malty, good. Hoppiness and bitterness is subtle but this is a great Helles.

Blonde. Very malty, almost creamy helles, with hints of soap. Relatively bland aroma. Hints of orange and cardboard. Bottle, from Dortmunder. Thanks! Better from tap, this beer! Malty aroma and flavor with just a touch of hops and hints of boiled milk. Friendly, clean and inoffensive. (6 3 6 3 9 = 2.7)

0,5 l bottle from a Hol´ Ab! market. New label and now called Mittenwald Hell. Clear golden with a more than two finger frothy white head. Grainy grassy smell with fruity apple background. Grainy taste, some caramel, low metallic bitterness. Thins out to the end. Unspectacular.

Brauerei Mittenwald Hell, 4,9 %, Flasche von Grabsch, Berlin-Lichterfelde. - Satt goldgelb, klar.

Bottle online from Beer Hawk. Pours clear light golden with a white head. Aroma has light malts, grass & straw. Taste is moderate sweet, straw, hints of lemon. Light body, soft carb, light sweet slightly dry finish. There are better helles out there for sure

From a bottle simply labeled "Vollbier Hell". Judging from ABV and style I’m taking it to be the same as the Karwendel. Pours clear gold. The head is bubbly and immediately disappears. Very grassy aroma with light dank notes. Very lively mouthfeel with lots of carbonation. Taste is malty sweet, grainy, mineral water. Finishes like a hard mineral water with a sweet, grassy touch. Unimpressed.

Draft at Schatten. Crystal clear golden color, white ice cream cone head. Aroma of papery white pepper. Taste is lightly bitter lemony straw. One of our least favorites helles beers of the trip.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe: poured (three times) into an old stemmed Pilsner glass that I like to use for tastings. 9th Jan 2016 and I am having a four beer Bavarian tasting session with myself and no one else. I know ’hell’ is ’light’ in German but this is uber hell, very light indeed. Slight grain aroma and taste with a hop bitterness later in the mouth. Do not pretend this has flavour and depth. It is refreshing and clean tasting but has no real beer like taste or character. A sunshine beer, not a cold, wet winters night one: scored objectively and kindly.

Bottle. Bier Huis, Ossett. Out of date in 4 hours time! Pale gold. Persistent, sticky film of white head. Mineral, and soft, green hop on the nose. Lightly spicy, sweet, bready malts. Taste is yeasty dry. Some green hop bitterness. Palate is a little oily. Finishes a bit sickly sweet.
