Dark Horizon 8 Whisky Edition is a full-bodied Imperial Coffee Stout aged in Higland Whisky barrels. Each release in the Dark Horizon series is unique and different compared to previous releases. It takes approximately two years from brewing until a limited number of numbered bottles are launched.

Bottle @ home. Black body under a small, disappearing beige head. Strong and delicate aroma of dark malt, coffee, dry fruit, some wood and smooth whisky. Taste is rich, nice and surprisingly smooth for a beer at this strength. Sweet, dark malt, dark chocolate, dry fruit, smooth quality coffee, hint of wood and well-integrated smooth whisky flavour. Body in perfect balanced, and that goes for the flavours as well, with long lasting sweet, warming aftertaste. Pure joy.

Bottle, #33231, bottle # 04192/,12000, seven months after bottling. Pours pitch black, with a creamy mocha head. Aroma is dark roasted malts, with bread, fruity coffee, dark chocolate and coffee, as well tannins and whiskey barrels. Smooth, creamy body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is dark roasted malts, fruity coffee, dark fruits, liquorice and muscovado, as well as tannins, smoky notes and wooden barrels.

330mL bottle at Man in the Moon. Pours black with no head. Tons of roasted malts and whiskey on the nose. Flavour is rich with lots of dry roasted malts, coffee, great whiskey barrels, all super well-integrated. Great level of smoothness and carbonation on the palate. This is incredible.

330mL bottle at Man in the Moon, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has plenty of whiskey barrels, light smokiness, dark roasted malt, and deep coffee. Flavour is remarkably complex and elegant, with rich coffee, deep roasted malt, lightly smoky whiskey barrels, and some dark sugars. Wonderful whiskey character that combines well with the coffee and roast. Mild alcohol burn. Beauty.

Bottle 330ml @ My parent's. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, oak, dried fruity, coffee and licorice. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, roasted, chocolate, coffee, dried fruity and oak finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

0,33 flaske fra VP Herbarium, i trygge omgivelser (altså godstolen): svart som arvesynden og med kortvarig beige skum. Det går raskt opp for meg at denne er en bauta å navigere etter - den gjør meg klok, tenksom, klar og avveiet. En svak men lyrisk rus og en mild glorie av alkohol rundt tinningene har etablert seg. På tide å finne frem en cd med Sibelius, skru opp volumet og mimre til andresymfonien eller fiolinkonserten.

Tap at Skaal, Copenhagen 14/07/2024 Dark roasted and sweet malty with prominent whisky character, lots of smooth chocolate and coffee roast, brown sugar, full bodied, whisky infused lingering malty finish. Excellent.

Draft. A black beer with a very thin brown head. The aroma has notes of whiskey, smoke, roasted malt, alcohol, and a bit of coffee. The flavor is sweet with notes of coffee, roasted malt, whiskey, alcohol, and a bit of wood, leading to a bitter finish.
