Tap @ 't Taphuys Utrecht. Black with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, roasted malt and moderate hoppy - pine. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 140425

Can from a local bottle shop. Aroma is roasty and hoppy with pine, roasted malt, citrus, chocolate, touch of coffee. Flavour is medium bitter and light sweetish. Medium body. An ace BIPA.

On tap at De Jopenkerk, Haarlem on 30th November 2024. Solid dark sepia brown with dull foam and full lacing. Intense roasty malts in aroma. Burnt coffee, bitter chocolate and tart cherry fruits in-mouth, and a lasting, roasty finish. Light bodied with a crisp mouthfeel.

Op tap bij Jopenkerk. Zwarte kleur, romige beige kraag. Pure chocolade, salmiak, vleug zwarte Engelse drop, grapefruit, koude koffie, redelijk straf en hoppig bitter, hint van tabak en brownie. Lichte body. Jopen kan dit en blijft gelukkig van tijd tot tijd goeie BIPAs brouwen.

Draft at the Jopenkerk. Poured a mostly clear dark brown colour with a mostly lasting, frothy light tan head and some broken lace. The aroma is roasted malt, liquorice. The flavour is over moderate liquorice bitter, with a somewhat smooth, slightly rich, roasty, earthy, herbal, light floral, liquorice bitter palate and a lingering liquorice bitter finish. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation. I prefer my Black IPA’s with a few bubbles and dry ashtray, but I’ll make an exception today!

(Draught at Jopenkerk, Haarlem, 17 July 2024) Dark brown colour, almost black, with creamy beige head. Malty, roasted, hoppy nose with notes of dark bread, chocolate, citrus and mint. Malty, roasted, hoppy taste with black bread, citrus, grapefruit, mint, pine needles, chocolate, coffee and a balanced citric/piney bitterness. Medium body, dry. Rich and well balanced black IPA. Very nice.

Brown with a frothy, beige head. Aroma a mix of spruce and dark chocolate with fruity undertones. Taste is bitter the whole way through. There’s a big, sweet malty body just underneath the hops though and it plays out with a nice balance. Lingering chocolate and resin. Nice!
