Single hopped Australian pale ale. A new beer fom the team here at Thornbridge “Galaxia”. The name might suggest it’s from the stars but it refers to this being a single hopped pale ale – a beer brewed to showcase the Australian hop variety Galaxy.
Caolan Vaughan our resident antipodean says ”Using our fantastic pale ale recipe allows this stunning hop to transform this beer into a pleasurable experience in a glass - one for all hop lovers”. The Galaxy hop imparts striking beautiful aromas of mango, guava and grapefruit. While providing an intensely tingling bitter finish. ABV changed from 5.2 to 4.5 in 2017.

Tap. Sheffield Tap. Evidently out of retirement. Pale gold. Peachy hop. Vanilla malts. Some lemon rind. Notes of grapefruit. Taste is light, grainy sweet. Some lemon rind, pithy bitterness. Light body. Pithy bitter finish. Better on cask, whereby the mouthfeel feels fuller. Juicy stuff, mind.

Draft glass @ Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Very hazy golden, big creamy white head. Nose is massive big juicy citrus, litchi, light lemon & low yeast. Taste is grainy citrus, yeast, litchi, citrus, mellow yeast, grain. Grainy body. Nose is very promising, taste is a bit dull, too muted, low note of butter takes it a small notch down. Still decent & enjoyable, I would expect better from Thornbridge.

On tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Cloudy golden with a big and lasting white head. Hoppy aroma of pine and tropical fruit. Sweet malty flavour with fruity and slightly dusty hops. Past its prime, unfortunately.
