Draft at Loyal Legion. Dark, clear golden pour; small, creamy white head. Light smoky aroma, smoked meats. Taste carries that smoky edge to a full bodied, bready base, the smoked malts working in tandem with the weizen yeast for some fruity and sweet flavors. Very well balanced.

Nicely hazy bright golden coloured body with a two centimetre tall pure white head - I thought this would be darker, but its very nice and similar for the style. Aroma of smoked malt, meat, mushrooms, earth, light hops, caramel and some oakiness. Medium-bodied; Assertive smoke flavour with a large meat and mushroom presence, some subdued hop elements and a nice and relatively stable wheat character that seems odd, but goes very well. Aftertaste shows a lot of smoke, yeast, oak and meaty notes with the sugars coming through near the end. Overall, a surprisingly well-balanced beer with a very noticeable smoked character, yet still a lot of the german hef characteristics to make this a noteworthy beer that just works well. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Small Batch Liqours in Denver, Colorado on 08-June-2014 for US$6,49 sampled at home in Washington near the end of summer on 17-September-2014.

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a weizen glass. Pours cloudy deep golden with huge dense white head. Aroma is smoke and clove, medium body, well carbonated, and no lacing. Taste is clove, smoke, some banana, and long pepperoni finish. Nice balance between the flavors, different, but quality wheat beer.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours very hazy gold with a frothy white head. As advertised, aroma is banana, mild smoke and clove spice. Med body, nearly. Flavor is light banana, mild smoke, and rather firm clove. Clove tends to dominate with time. Clove burn rather than hop burn. Nice drink. Strong flavors are almost always a good thing, and these flavors tend that way.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Muddy blond color with creamy head. Mild aroma of smoke and spicy hefe. Highly carbonated; the spicy wheat and yeast flavor is prominent, maybe too much, overwhelming the delicate smoke character. Quite bitter too, in a pleasant way. The final, with so much yeast, is rather astringent.
A bit too yeasty and dirty to really be appreciated.

Bomber. Aroma is strong campfire, clove, banana. Pours cloudy golden with a thick white head with great retention; leaves some lace. Flavor is smoked bacon, wheat, clove. Highly carbonated, medium to thin body. Super good for smoked beer fans. Double that pleasure if German Hefes are your thing also, which definitely applies to me.

Cloudy yellow, light banana and a fair bit of smoke. Sweet front, hint of smoke, slight sweet smokiness, a bit minerally in the finish.

650 ml bottle. Pours a hazy tawny color with moderate head. Aromas of campfire, citrus, and wheat. Flavors of smoke, bananas, and citrus. Can’t say I’m a fan of this concoction - drinking something that should be refreshing on a hot day but has the lints of burnt garbage isn’t very satisfying.

Tap. Pours cloudy orange, medium creamy off white head, dissipates slowly with great lacing. Aroma is smokey, Ashes, wheat, banana, clove. Flavor is lightly smokey, banana, lemon, wheat. Light sweet, little bitterness. Medium body. Not bad.

Bomber - pours a turbid light orange - initial light sweetness and banana esters in the nose quickly make way for some pleasant phenols of clove and light white pepper, complimented well by light, earthy beechwood smoke - some perfume, citrus, and melon as well - the texture is a little thin and the carbonation is kind of low, so it doesn’t have that full, creamy mouthfeel I want in a Hefe - flavor is fairly dry, but surprisingly bitter for the style - nice clove and pepper phenolics and moderate woodsmoke, which are all pleasant, but there is that bitterness, along with a citric acidity that is especially potent in the finish (think of that tang you get after you take a sip of orange juice) that make me like it a lot less than I want to - okay, but kind of a disappointment - not sure why it’s listed as a Gose at the moment.
