Brewed with mahleb and mastic resins.

At the crossroads of tradition and innovation, Kyklus presents Sour Ale Experiment #2, a harmonious blend of rich pastry-like flavors and the delightful tang of sour cherries. Inspired by our love for both sour ales and indulgent pastries, this brew is a celebration of culinary fusion.

We start with a base of sour cherries, their natural tartness providing the perfect canvas for our creative exploration. But we don't stop there; we infuse this unique concoction with the exotic allure of mahleb and mastic, spices and resins that dance on the palate, adding depth and complexity to the brew.

Can, thanks Fin! Purple, low head. Leafy, perfumed, spicy wood aroma. Medium full sparkling body, some chewiness. Lightly tart cherry base, wood, warm spices, light citrus leaves. Fun on the palate, not sure the aromatics work.

Can, shared with Marko and Fin. Pink murky red. Red berries, sweetness. Front heavy sticky sweet. This is supposed to be sour, but it is not. Also not getting the other stuff that's supposed to be there. Not sure what it aimed for.

Can courtesy of Kostas Kykao, cheers Kostas, and consumed in the company of Ursula and Marko Saturday 19th July 2025 at the Mangled Ham tasting. Pours deep red colour, no head to speak of. I actually don't know what two of these ingredients are though I suspect they are responsible for the unusual taste, I've heard of Mahleb and Mastic but my knowledge of the latter is as a sealant In bathrooms 🤣. There is a fruitiness, it's lost a little because there's such an unusual flavour from the two strange ingredients. Loz appears to be the biggest fan, I don't dislike it but I think that it is a beer I would need to try again simply because of those two ingredients. Actually thinking again about this beer, yeah it's tart but could be tarter and tangier also really doesn't taste 8%, the abv is very deceiving.

Can, Mangled Fly tasting, huge thanks F&L! Misty full red body, head gone immediately. Vague fruity notes before the huge vegetal-resinous presence that I hope are mahleb and mastic, not that I would know. Sweet taste, sour cherry much more clear, but very, very sweet, with the same vegetal-resinous presence. Almost no sourness. Too much, way too much.

Spritziger, angenehm säuerlicher Beginn. Milde Herbe, vollmundig, erfrischend, leicht fruchtig. Gut! 10/11/12/11//11
