Ashanti is the little sister of our 2022 Zwanze, Lambic with Gorilla pepper.
Same recipe, same pepper, but slightly more focused on the Lambic side compared to the first blend.
The spicy, fruity, and obviously peppery side is still very present and harmonizes superbly with the natural power of our Lambic.
The name of the beer comes from the inhabitants of the neighboring land, the Ashanti Kingdom, who were famous traders of this pepper.
This pepper is available to purchase at Sandrine’s store, Misao La Maison des Poivres, in Brussels. She also collected the pepper left over in the tanks after macerations and then dried it. This Lambic-infused version is also available to purchase at Misao.

Pâle, col léger fin blanc-cassé.
Arôme est frais avec de suite un bouquet savoureux et généreux poivré – cela donne une belle fraicheur fruitée et finement terreuse.
Palais sur une version qui se veut plus légère en poivre que celle proposée lors du Zwanze. Cependant, je trouve ce dernier toujours aussi présent sans pour cela parler d’une bière épicée avec l’effet piquant de poivre, ce dernier poivre des Gorilles apporte des notes plaisantes de fraicheur tendant sur les agrumes qui se prêtent bien au caractère finement acidulé du lambic.

Drucken på flaska på Zum Franziskaner. Citrussyrlig på ett sätt jag inte riktigt upplevt hos Cantillon tidigare. Känns ung och lite outvecklad men samtidigt pigg, frisk och spritsig. Svartpepparn lirar i bakgrunden men är inte lika markant som hos Zwanze-varianten. Mycket Gott men inte wow

June 7 2024 bottle. Pours a hazy orange gold with small white head that lasts. The aroma is intense pepper, funk, wood, lemon zest. Thin body, pepper, citrus, funk, nice tartness, enjoyed this.

Bottle at Zum Franziskaner. Hazy golden/orange with a small white head. A lot of black pepper in this one. Also funk, oak and some citrus. A nice different Cantillon.
