Bottle 2006 vintage.
Hazy copper pour, tiny, minimal white head. Aroma is funky dirty socks, white vinegar, and musty apples. Carb is non existant, beer is flat, mouth feel is watery. Finish is quite sour, light barnyard flavours, some wet hay, and a mouth puckering white vingar finish. Whoa, this is rough. Save your taste buds, make salad dressing out of this.

THT October. 2006 Bottle. Hazy golden with white head. Sweet malts, sugar cane core with pinchy sour citric acid surroundings. Sickly grain wort & gluey notes, rotten oak wood, old bread, vinegar, sweaty socks and pickles. Sweet & sour, soft carbonation.

Bottle shared at THT October. Bit hazy orange golden with not much head. Balsamico crisps, peach, old faro, candy sugar, light vinegar, sweat, puke, light 🍎 🤢, oxidized. Medium sweet and over medium sour. Medium bodied. It’s old, oxidized and tastes like weird faro, but not too bad.

2006 version ( with a black label, very inspired on the girardin label ) obtained in a trade! Pours bit unclear, amber. Small white head doesnt last very long. Smell is woody, bit acitic, phenolic, rather weak in general. Taste is bit tart, woody, very mild funk. in general, weak in flavor. Not bad tho, just … Weak.

Schoune Geuze La Spontanée 7.5% 750ml bottle gifted to Je by my buddies. This pseudo-geuze is a deep honey gold with a tangy lemon meringue nose with a certain sharpness as well. Medium to light bodied. The taste is acidic, dry, banana, bready and acerbic. Not as terrible as I was led to believe. I'd say it is passable at this point. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very dark golden orange. The aroma isn’ bad. orange, clove, ginger, cheese and some egg with oak and wine tannins.Thin mouthfeel. no bubbles but a thick maltiness. Intense vinegar tartness. It’s not sour but that vinegar is present. Not awful at all, a Gueuze? not quiet.

Forgot this bottle in the dark. Yep, this is the 2005 edition, opened in 2013. Well, quite surprised (as I remember Schoune beers being infected in the past), but this one is quite good. Did time make this one better ? I think so. Cloudy (hazy by the last pour) amber colour with a soapy head, average retention and minimal lace. Sour nose with lots of fruits (apples, lemons, gooseberries). Sour taste, but not as strong (as this is where time did it’s job) balanced by some nice sweetness. Lots of apples, reminding me of natural cider without the spices. Mild tartiness lingering with some yeast. I am very surprised how good this is, for so many years sitting. Wish I would of cellared more.
