Bottle at FFB, shared with the crew. I only took numerical notes while having this one.

Bottle: Poured a deep dark brown color ale with a medium dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt notes with some massive rye notes. Taste is also a good mix of caramelized malt notes with some strong dry rye notes with not much residual sugar notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation and strong warming alcohol notes. Interesting barleywine with too much barrel rye notes.

2022 vintage, a tad more boozy than rum, loads of caramel, alcohol burn. Reddish copper.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenny, 20/01/24. Deep mahogany brown with a beige cap that thins to the edge. Nose is toffee, stewed fruits, fruit cake mix, molasses, subtle barrel tones, oak, caramel. Taste comprises toffee, brown sugar melt, figs, dates, rye whisky, fruit cake, molasses. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced barrel edge and rising boost. Solid Life Sipper.

Pretty much a clear deep amber beer, good pale tan head fizzes away rapidly. Fairly light palate for it's hefty abv, mildly dry and with reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a good dose of dark toffee. Mild malt creamy sweetness and a light touch of damp aged wood. Rich fruity whiskey brings up the back end, rich but not that spicy for a rye whiskey barrel. Some barrel induced vanilla rounds things off nicely. Another one of these big Gigantic barleywines that drinks indecently easily.

Bottle @ home, digital tasting. Copper with tan head. Slightly boozy with burnt sugar, caramel, some dried fruit, vanilla and oak. A bit harsh.

2019 bottle. Very, very big. So big. Loads of caramel, toffee, date, black cherry, and molasses, backed up by subtle notes of pumpernickel bread, vanilla, oak, and good ol’ rye whiskey. No balance expected, and none given; this beer’s nothing but malt and booze. Great for sharing, a bit much to kill a bottle on my own.

Capped 500 from Bine & Vine. Pours translucent ruddy amber with a creamy beige head. Aroma of very roasty malt, wood and rye spice. Call it full bodied at least. Flavor is rye spice, slightly musty wood and very roasty malt. It is not dry, but neither is it sticky. It's mildly bitter, and the heat is quite present. The flavor combinations are intriguing and delicious.
