Cask at Torrside tap. Pours milky pale yellow with white foam. Aroma: mellow smoke, some citrus, lemon, light yeasty, mild spices. Taste: light sweet with moderate bitterness. More smoke, citrus, light grassy. Dry on the palate. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. An underappreciated style, my cup of tea.

Keg at Fell Bar, Kendal. Pale yellow, middling fizz and a white head. Quite thin, but that suits it. Ashtray and bonfire smoke, with some pleasing lemon coming through. Finishes very dry. It's kind of refreshing and thirst-quenching thanks to the lemon and thin body; but then the dryness and smokiness make you thirsty again. An interesting yet confusing beer therefore, but one that I quite enjoyed.

Bottle from Beer Dock, Crewe They say this is a smoked beer –you could have fooled me ! Just a bit in the nose, that’s all, though that is predominantly more musty old attic. Pours a lively lemon yellow with a strong effervescent white head, and noticeable carbonation – typical of a wheat beer. Mouth feel is initially lemon, orange peel and ginger, giving way to more acidic tones. Lemon lingers in the aftertaste. They also say the beer is “well hopped”, but I didn’t notice that either. Overall, a pleasant quaffable number – ideal for drinking with a meal like pork chops.

Keg at Eebria. It pours cloudy pale yellow - beige with a medium white head. The aroma is rich, smoked meat, hammy, grainy, wheat and smoked cheese. The taste is crisp, dry, earth, wood, dull smoke, wheat, cracker, light spice, smoked cheese, lemon rinse, lemonade and soap with a dry finish. Smokey. Light - medium body and moderate carbonation. Interesting, but not crazy drinkable. OK.

Keg at the Eebria Taproom - London. Pours clear pale yellow with a creamy, white head. The nose has some lemon zest, pale grain, hay. Light sweet flavour with subtle lemony tang, more pale grains, husk, citrus rind. Light bodied with spritzy carbonation. Fairly clean finish, more pale grains, lemon peel. So so.

Keg at the Eebria tap room. A difficult pour. A hazed bright yellow straw coloured pour with a lasting white frorh. Aroma is soft doughy wheat, mellow smoked wheat, straw zesty lemon. Fresh. Flavour is composed of thin light doughy wheat, mineral, light charcoal, citrus lemon, thin cereal grains. Palate is very light, thin and refreshing, spritzy carbonation.. Lingering smoked citrus and a little floral.
