Brasserie de la Senne is tackling a classic: don't say ‘witbier’ anymore, say WITZ! It was missing from our range and from the local craft beer scene: a light, 100% organic Brussels wheat beer that contains no spices! Shocking, don't you think? The fact is that historically, and contrary to popular belief, Belgian wheat beers didn't contain any.
Our wheat beer is called WITZ, and has a straw-blonde color. It has the characteristic haze of this beer style, and its head is white and creamy. The emphasis is on the freshness of the wheat and the roundness of the oats. It develops very floral notes (white fruit tree blossoms) and a slightly lemony and green currant fruitiness. It has, as expected, very little bitterness, but a slight, very refreshing acidity. Liquid spring, in short!

Straw coloured body, with a big, fluffy, white head.
Aroma of fresh herbs, flowers, hay, citrus, pine, wheat, spices, some dough. Tastes similar, with slight biscuit.
A bit creamy mouthfeel, with a quite lively carbonation. Finishes crisp, hoppy, floral, zesty, piney, wheaty, yeasty, spicy.

Pretty complex for the style, Wheaty notes, crisp hops and their typical yeasty notes in great harmony. Drinks super crisp and balanced, great refreshing stuff!

33cL bottled May 14, 2025, drunk July 22, 2026.
Smells fantastic...clean and zesty, very bright and chalk full of lovely wheat. Lovely esters and mildly spicy phenols do more than enough work to replace the oft-overdone coriander and lemonpeel. Quite aromatic for its size, particularly.
Oh man, that's incredible....wonderful, wonderful yeast showing zesty black pepper, hints of band aid and a speck of lemony acidity. Rich wheat isn't too slick/chewy/nutty; at least not so much as to create blandness. Great acidity and a proper malt depth for its size. Refreshing, wildly flavorful and balanced. Convincing.

33cl Fles van De Bierkoning. Iets mistig, lichtgele kleur, witte kraag. Droog, licht kruidig, korianderzaad, licht bloemig, iets kruidig-harsig, smaak is fris, droog, hint van citroen, korianderzaad, tarwe, bitter. Lichte body. Onmiskenbaar een witbier, maar met de De la Senne-klasse.

Bottle. Very pale orange with a fluffy white head. Lemon blossom, orange and cracker aroma. Soft wheaty texture before a little sourness and bitterness sweep through along with more citrus and some white pepper. Quite interesting but not too fancy.

Easygoing stuff. Pleasant pale baicuits and wheat flakes, soft yeast expression, slight minerality, mild bitter straw. Very drinkable.

(Draft at Muted Horn, Berlin, 16 July 2025) Hazy golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, herbal nose with notes of grass, citrus, herbs, coriander and orange peel. Fruity, herbal taste with bread, citrus, grass, coriander and a mild herbal/citric bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and refreshing. Nice one.

Small, quite regular snowwhite head over pale yellow beer with a greenish sheen. Spicy nose, wheat, bit weyish. Very slight wheatacidity, again spicey, and probably drier than most wits. Creamy feel, well carbonated to spritzy, wheatslick. Meritorious in the world of corianderboil wits.
