Ok i have a theory here. The most recent rating for this beer is from late 2007. I don;t recall every seeing this beer before in the local beers stores in my area (North bay region). Now all of a sudden they has this beer at ALL the beer stores. I’m thinking this beer is being reintroduced, and the recipe has changed, cause it ain’t as good as the past ratings from two years claim it to be.

Aroma is slightly spicy, but very wattery, and there is a cheap wheat aroma. I smell this aroma ALOT in lesser quebec micro brews that attempt this style. There is some lemon, but its mixed with a sour grassy note. Flavor is wattery, and a touch sour with some odd wheat, and lemon flavor. Overall this is not great. It actually kinda tastes like a lager with crappy lemon flavoring added. And this is also odd, the beer store has this beer listed as a lager on it’s website.

Originally rate August 2009. Quite new at the LCBO in cans, following the trend of most breweries making witbiers this summer 2009. Pours a blonde colour with some light haze, mild carbonation, a decent big white head that is creamy, above-average lasting and has little lace. Becomes very cloudy when the can is fully poured, and sediments are all over. The aroma is pretty grainy with some sour citrus, more on the orange side. Mild spices like cloves. The taste is pretty light with the fruit, grain, and the wheat that shows up in the aftertaste. Not a bad brew, but finding the mix in the flavours lacking a bit of finesse. Also, kind of different to have a witbier in a can (I find). You cannot see the residue in the bottom of the can, like you can (no pun intended) in a bottle.

Can, 5%. Citric aroma. Cloudy yellow colour. Small stable white head. The flavour has a little orange, hint of peach, some paper. Not a typical wheat beer, but nothing extraordinary either.

Cloudy golden coloured body with a very thick, four centimetre tall white head with nice bubbles and a good mildly golden hue. Aroma of yeast, fresh wheat, hay, grass and a bit of cardboard. Light-bodied; Super watery taste with some funky mild malt, odd corn and grainy taste along with a fake sweetness. Aftertaste shows just about nothing with a good water taste in the middle (sarcasm). Overall, a very mild and non-flavourful beer throughout. I can’t complain too much, this wasn’t bad - it just - wasn’t a real beer. I sampled this 473 (odd size) mL can purchased from the LCBO in Toronto (Summerhill), Ontario on 11-October-2009, sampled at home in Washington (DC) on 19-October-2009.

Can: Poured a slightly hazy golden color ale with a nice pure white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of wheat malt with light banana ester and some cloves is quite good. Taste is a nice mix between some wheat malt with subtle banana ester with a dry finish with cloves notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Well done though a bit too dry at the end.

A golden wheat ale with a thick white head. In aroma, a lightly sweet and sulfury aroma. In mouth, a light wheaty ale, with light german hops, and a bit of sulfury. Bottle from Beer Store. May 2009.
