16 oz. can from Bier Cellar, Portland, Maine. Pours a pitch black color with a small light tan head and decent retention. Very little lacing. Dark roasted malt aroma. The flavor follows the nose, with more dark, charred malts and a light bitter dark chocolate finish. Medium body, a little light for a stout, and a semi-creamy mouthfeel. Good carbonation for the style. Light overall bitterness. Very smooth and clean. The 6.5% ABV is invisible. Tastes like a stout-Schwarzbier hybrid. Really good.

16oz can looks sooo good, murky brown. Cola and molasses nose, malt, marzipan. Flavors of malt, toffee, molasses, cola. Finishes creamy, off dry. Well made.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from Andover Liquors. Appearance is opaque black, no sparkle, less-than-finger width creamy light brown head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is mellow roasted malts, molasses, earth. Taste is smoky, roasted malt with light caramel. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, thin texture, soft carbonation and dry mild bittersweet finish. Overall, not the strongest aroma and flavor all around (though suffering from a bit of a head cold), and a bit thin in the palate.

Draught at Casa Verde, 5/31/17.
Dark mahogany-ebony, undetermined clarity, with a greyish-tan head atop, medium-sized and showing strong retention.
Fresh mineral and lactic character from the roast, with mild, fruity coffee character and soft vanilla tickling the nose as cherry and other fruity acidity balances the light caramel-molasses that is produced from the ample base malts mixing with the roasted barley. Clean and with no alcohol. Chocolatey and with just a kiss of citrus from the hops.
Soft, malty and well-attenuated with dry chocolate, fruity coffee and hints of both vanilla and light molasses. Sweet and sticky finish produces a lingering, rich, luscious flavor but the moderate acidity helps keep it balanced and drinkable. Almost perfectly balanced between dry/highly attenuated and richly malted. Hops add a light citrus and pine element but there’s no accompanying resin or big bitterness. Very lovely stuff.

Draft at Positive Pie, Montpelier, VT. Mostly black color with tan head that lasting for an extremely long time leaving a fluffy foam until the last drop. Aroma of roasted barley, chocolate malts, ashy.

Flavor is roasted barely, roasted tones, coffee grounds hints. Palate is on the borderline of being astringent. Lots of coffee bitterness with a creamy, smooth texture inside a medium body. I enjoyed the mouthfeel and body, hearty feeling. Drinkable without a doubt.
