A beer to mark our 300th brew and for lovers of Belgian brews this is an amplified version of our farmhouse ale, Saison 14. Balancing the increased malt bill, we've enhanced the hops here. Tonnes of Sorachi Ace and Pacific Gem give bold fruity qualities to this beer which plays with the peppery quality of the Saison yeast.

Bottle at home in Hackney - aged a few years. Pours lightly hazed deep orange-gold with a frothy, off-white head. Holds some rich malty character, pine needles, orange peel, alcohol, background yeast, grassy bitterness. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish, more assertive piney and grassy notes, sun-kissed malts, nips of raw alcohol. Pretty punchy stuff. Reasonably enjoyable but it's unnecessarily boosty.

Bottle from Thirsty, Cambridge, drunk at home on a wonderfully random Wednesday evening. Dark gold, cloudy with an impressive tight head just a shade off white. Yeasty funk mixes with fresh gooseberry, cardamom, TCP. Taste is big, boozy, yeasty, spicy, sweet. Not a lot of balance - it doesn’t half blow you away - but that’s fine with me. Full body and nicely modest carbonation. The hop finish turns a tiny bit acrid in the aftertaste, otherwise it’s an incredible experience.

My 100th Weird Beard (sorry Chimney Dweller!) - how did that happen? Very hazy gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and fairly dry with decent carbonation on the back end. Mildly creamy malt base. Good Sorachi lemon cream, slightly bitter to start with but that eases off as the beer warms up. A little lemon sherbet and mild floral lemon. Light finish. Mild bitter linger. Hides the abv fantastically well. Sunk the whole 750 whilst watching a late night film. Weird Beard love Sorachi, I love Sorachi and I love Weird Beard!

Keg at Craft CG. It pours lightly hazy golden with a thick, foamy white head. The aroma is rich, sweet, big sweet coconut throughout, vanilla custard, tapioca and candied fruits. The taste is crisp, bitter, boozy hit, fresh fruits, peppery spice, straw, toasted coconut and custard with a lingering warming finish. Medium + body and moderate carbonation. Pretty punchy stuff. I like the coconut vibe that’s for sure. Nice, if a bit rough around the edges.
