Brewed using a blend of six different malts traditional and pale malts for richness and depth chocolate and smoked malts for a distinctive flavour malted oats and roasted barley malt to enhance the finish. Based on an original Cornish recipe Mena Dhu means black hill named after the farm that was owned by Walter Hicks, the founder of St Austell Brewery a new generation stout that combines the best of the old with added complexity and refreshment.

0,5 flaske delt med Odd Gunnar og Bryne 25.01.19: brunsvart med fint skum som varer. Mørke, overmodne bær + brent treverk i aromaen. Smaken har i tillegg kaffe og mørk lakrissjokolade. Myk og behagelig, kopleks og samtidig lettdrikkelig.

Bottle @ Malta craft beer festival. Dark brown, small head. Burnt malt and roasted breadcrumbs, fruity notes, caramel, some coffee, liquorice. Bittersweet. Light bodied, watery texture, soft to low carbonated, dry malty finish.

On tap at De Markies. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, liquorice, burnt caramel, mocha, light fruity, chocolate. Flavour of roasted malts, caramel, hint of berries, liquorice, chocolate, bitter finish. Light bodied. Decent stuff.

[ As St. Austell Mena Dhu ].Dark black brown colour with a average to large, creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, dark malt, roasted, chocolate. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration, dark malt, roasted, sweet malt, malt bitter, has a spicy touch. Keg at the Three Tuns - Bristol. Pours black-brown with a dense, lasting khaki head. Milf ashy roast in the nose, cocoa, earth. Light sweet flavour with notes of milk chocolate, more ash, raisins, earth. Light bodiednwith fine carbonation and velvety texture. Modest sweetness on the finish, more milk chocolate, mellow ashy roast. Decent gear.

Keg at Three Tuns. It pours near black with a thick white head. The aroma is toasty, earthy, smoked malt, umami and savoury action. The taste is crisp, dry, creamy, cocoa, coffee grounds, ashy, tobacco and maybe some spice with a drying finish. Medium body and high, foamy carbonation. Carbonation is too intense. Fair.
