Tasted at a tap takeover and Brothers Beer Bistro. I’ve got nothing bad to say about this. There is just not enough going on here to warrant a return visit. The experience starts with a mild coffee and cream nose. A touch of sourness, mild coffee, cream and chocolate. An oatmeal-like density helps sustain what taste there is.

Bottle from the brewery.
Jet black, medium mocha head. Big roasty aroma with a solid dose or coffee and a slight tang. Silky mouth feel, soft carb. The finish is where this beer shines. The sour fruit really come through, and mingle beautifully with the strong roasty notes. Dangerously drinkable for 9.5, a great stout.

On tap at Bar Hop Brewco, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out a robust roasted malt character, with an intriguing mix of flavour the berries that aren't individually discernible. Flavour is loaded on the roasted malt, bringing out coffee and even some pleasantly bitter hops. There isn't a whole lot of fruit in here, which I'm not complaining about. Excellent.

Book by the cover on this, great name, interested in seeing how the fruit integrated, plus solid brewers prompt this purchase.. And its good, solid coffee, mild booze, a little chocolate, and mild dried fruit followed. Up in the aftertaste. Enjoyable imperial, but the berries get lost.

Nice, now in a can. Pours a black colour with no highlights whatsoever. Its head is big, frothy, warm deep beige, long lasting and leaves great amounts of wavy-creamy lacing. Aromas of roasted malts with notes of chocolate and coffee. The fruits are only hints in the background, but mostly raspberries are felt. The taste show lots of bitterness with a decent amount of dryness that lingers. Light tartiness. Seems like the fruits are even milder in the flavours. Maybe a touch of sourness from the cherries, cranberries at one point. A good Imperial Stout, but wish the fruit would shine more. Especially, more than the hops.

Can from the LCBO. Very dark mahogany under a small dark tan head that fades quickly to a sheet and leaves sparse lace. Nose is dark chocolate, coffee, roast, molasses, dark fruit with the cherries dominant, and some light vanilla. Flavour is light+ sweet molasses with a medium coffee and chocolate bitterness. But the star is a well balanced medium- tartness, with the cherries still prominent, but the raspberries and cranberries add more variety. Mouth is medium+ and creamy with a dry finish. Quite warming with the alcohol well integrated. Excellent. 9/4-/9/4-/17

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a medium size light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of tart cherry notes with some black chocolate is pretty singular. Taste is also dominated by tart cherry notes with some creamy black chocolate notes. Body is full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Singular approach to the style with nice experiment but not sure I enjoyed it enough to need to drink this again.

A deep dark stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, molasses, light phenolics, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with light acidity, light coffee, citrus acidity, very nice. Cask Days 2014.
