Cask at Union Tavern, Westbourne, London, consumed Friday 13th December 2013 Black/dk Brown in colour with a slight ruby glint towards the bottom. Coffee, very roasty but indeed this does have a glorious milkiness and some body from the oats, leaves a bitter and roasty finish, quite uncompromising with lots of coffee sediment mouthfeel. Very good A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0

(Cask at Dean Swift, Tower Bridge, London, 23 Nov 2013) Black colour with brief, foamy, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, roasted oat flakes and creamy coffee. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, creamy coffee and a slightly sweetish finish with a gentle coffee bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Nice one.

Cask at the Queen’s Head - London. Pours deep brown with a creamy, khaki head. Nose of milk chocolate, soft roast, toasted bread. Light to medium sweet flavor with toasted marshmallows, more milk chocolate, some earthy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation and creamy texture. Great condition. Well balanced in the finish with moderately sweet milk chocolate, some bittersweet cocoa, mild burnt wood, mellow earth. Hits all the right notes.

Cask from the brewery. It pours near black with a small bubbly head. The nose is soft roast, toast, sweet coffee, earth and chocolate. The taste is bitter-sweet, milk chocolate, toasted oats, earthy, toffee, light spice and some decent bitterness creaping in towards the finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. Tasty and really well balanced. Nice.
