Hazy, pale, bubbly. On the nose, has a nice brett, and woody accent. Sharp tartness, lots of barrel, and then there’s a touch of pale malt. Has a nice character.

Boss pour, courtesy of Brian. Hazy amber colour. Smell of candied fruit, marzipan sweets, light alcohol. Sweet mouthfeel but not syrupy, strong alcohol feeling, candied fruit, Cascade character.
Very good Strong Ale / TIPA.

Bouteille de 341 ml. Des accents maltés, un alcool fort, des fruits tropicaux et de discrètes notes d'épinette, composent l'essentiel de cet olfactif puissant. De couleur ambrée, ce liquide voilé développe une mousse beige assez pétillante qui s'attarde en son sommet. La mangue et le litchi dominent l'entrée de bouche, se mêlant aux accents de caramel et de biscuit du malt. La finale est intense en alcool avec un soupçon de résine. Une sensation de bonbon enveloppe ce fruité liquoreux, ramenant les sucres à un niveau presque excessif. L'amertume, quoique perceptible, demeure plutôt noyée par cet intense alcool. Très liquoreuse, complexe et sucrée, cette bière se déguste à petites lampées, en la faisant rouler longtemps dans la bouche. Peut-être un peu trop sucrée à mon gout par contre.

Des notes de caramel se présentent d’abord au nez. Les houblons résineux suivent ensuite avec des notes de sapin, s’accordant avec l’alcool omniprésent. Les fruits tropicaux sont très faibles; peut-être en raison d’une légère madérisation suite à plusieurs mois de conservation. Le visuel est cuivré, tirant sur le brun et couronné d’une petite mousse délicate qui fuit rapidement. Gustatif: Les voila les fruits tropicaux. Explosifs. Soutenus par un alcool trop puissant par contre. Ça dénature une palette gustative qui s’annonçait pourtant prometteuse. Le caramel est toujours en arrière plan; supportant des notes de mangue, de fruit de la passion, d’orange. L’amertume est douce mais quand même sentie; avec un léger sapinage en arrière plan. L’équilibre malt / houblon est superbe. La texture est dodue et l’effervescence douce. Une très bonne bière. Un grand cru ? J’en doute. Un taux d’alcool modéré aurait aidé sa cause.

Bottle: Poured clear copper color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of strong hoppy notes with light tropical fruit notes discernable. Taste is dominated by residual sugar with caramelized malt with big huge hoppy notes with limited bitterness level and some light tropical fruit notes. Body is light with great carbonation and light warming alcohol notes. Not sure I would feel the need to drink this kind of beer on a regular basis but very nice sipping brew for those long and cold winter nights.

Bottle: Poured a deep dark orangey color ale with a medium size off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of intense piney and resinous hops with quite a bit of residual sugars also being noticeable. Taste is also dominated by intense piney hops with some resinous notes with huge sweet malt backbone with some caramelized malt noticeable. Body is full enough for style with good carbonation. This is clearly a huge beer with a very pleasant hops profile but I am not sure I could drink this if it wasn’t fresh as there is just too much residual sugars for my taste.

A dark amber Barley Wine with a thin lacing light mocha head. In aroma, warming alcohol over caramel malt, floral hops, curacao, licorice notes, nice. In mouth, a sweet fruity caramel malt with loads of orange pulp, curacao, alcohol warmth, a mix between an American strong ale with Belgian influence. A bit thin. Interesting. Bottle from Sylvain. Ayoye c’est intense ça!!! J’aime bien sa robe et son côté super malté mais c’est un peu masqué par l’alcool. Un peu trop forte à mon goût mais ça valait la peine de la découvrir. Je crois que je vais être bien heureux lorsque je l’aurai finie ;-)
