Bottle. Beermerchants.com. Cloudy amber. Thin, sticky, off white head. Aroma is boozy, a little thick, and chewy orange. Slightly fudgy toffee. A bit of a leathery, plastic thing going on, not to any detriment, mind. Some stewed apple, too. Taste is thick sweet. Turns fairly bitter. Robust, chewy palate. Quite boozy. Finishes gluey sweet, and big, lasting bitter.

Bottle from somewhere in London. Hazy dark brown lasting tan head. Aroma of sweet malt brown sugar and very light whisky. Good sweet barley wine dried out slightly by the orange scented whisky barrel. I liked it. Drinkable. Some heat on finish. Good.

Bermondsey Bottleshop. Keg. Hazy reddish brown beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry. Fine carbonation. Malts are smooth and light, touch of toffee cream. Mild spice and dried fruits. Sweetish whisky tang. Spice get stronger. Light semi dry finish leaves a warming afterglow. Nice but will improve in time.

Keg at the Bottle Shop, Bermondsey, 20/09/14. Opaque chestnut brown with a well appointed beige covering that dissipates and retains. Nose is sweet toffee, dates, Macallan is well evident but not overbearing, cake mix, light booze fumes. Taste comprises sticky toffee pudding, candied fruit peel, spice, figs. Full bodied, fine carbonation, lightly warming alcohol and a woody Mcallan rinse in the close. Decent enough offering if a little sweet at times.

Draft at the Bottle Shop - Bermondsey, London. Pours hazy amber-brown with a frothy tan head. Plenty of alcohol and wood in the aroma, some toasted caramel, bread and ripe orange. Medium to big sweet flavor with lots of alcohol, light tannic wood, oily hops, bitter leaves, earth and orange rind. Full bodied with fine carbonation and oily texture. Finishes hot with more caramel, ripe citrus fruits, marmalade, strong bitterness of leaves, citrus rind and dry wood. Heavy hitting stuff. The booze is a bit forward and the bitterness is at times abrasive. Could likely benefit from a bit of mellowing.

Keg at Bottle Shop. It pours murky brown with a small tan head. The nose is earthy, fruit cake, prune, date, juicy, raisin, cherry, whisky, vanilla and light medicinal. The taste is smooth, bitter, boozy, cherry, fruit cake, whisky, toffee, wood, brown sugar, marzipan, earth and vanilla with a dry, boozy finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Oily. Big, boozy and punchy. Good depth but pretty heavy duty.
