As a Saison, this is as old school as they get. Lightly sour, brewed only with grain and hops made right here! Brewed for before, meanwhile and after hard labour on the fields!

Bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub shared by Jaap. Thanks! Slightly unclear a but pale yellow golden color, small to average sized quite quickly diminishing white head. Smell and taste wheat, grassy, slightly hop, softly bitter. Quite like it. Sort of a mix between a saison and a session IPA. Nice one!

Fast dwindling snowwhite head, over fine-pearling deeper golden beer. Spicy-yeasty nose (Whyeastlabs #xyz). Citrus, spelt. Quite acidic, spiced citrusfruit, very slightly bready. Quite watery MF and with the lively carbonation, a kind of fruit infused sparkling mineral water impression. Generally speaking far from bad, if a bit watery - but the type of beer aimed at, makes this quite acceptable. Easily drinkable, nothing forced.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/2014. Pours slightly hazy bright golden color with a 2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon, pear, white grape, coriander, pepper, wheat, spelt, biscuit, hay, straw, grass, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and pale/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big lemon, pear, white grape, coriander, pepper, wheat, spelt, biscuit, hay, straw, grass, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy yeast spiciness and light wheat tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, white grape, coriander, pepper, wheat, spelt, biscuit, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice robustness and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and pale/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly bready/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice saison style. All around great complexity, balance, and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast and pale/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Sampled draft @ Modeste 2014. Hazy, tad milky golden, no head. Sweet thick milky yeast nose, watery,… Taste is watery, yeasty slab of bread, bread, milky, tad wheat-sour. Watery body. Very blah, I was hoping for something better from Hof Ten Dormaal from a new beer that finally isn’t BA but this isn’t that either. Sigh.

3/X/14 - 75cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home - BB: n/a (2014-1172)

Pretty cloudy pale orange beer, creamy off-white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: stable, some banana, yeast, quite some coriander, bit dirty. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sourish, citric, grains, wheat, spicy, quite some banana. Aftertaste: pretty sour, wheat, little watery, green banana, bitter touch, bit grassy. I recognize the style elements of a saison, but don't think it's a really great one in it's kind.
