Gravity cask at the Taproom - Islington. Pours clear gold with a foamy white head. The nose holds some grain, rotting citrus, soap. Light sweet flavor with notes of orange peel, wet grains, aggressive grassy bitterness. Light bodied with soft carbonation; poor condition. Grassy and abrasive on the finish with more damp grains, some dirty hay. This is really shabby.

Cask handpump at Bar Fringe Northern Quarter, Manchester, Saturday 18th April 2015 Mhhh...I have to say that I found this a bit drab for Great Heck, the hoppiness was really quite low, no real bite or full on flavour. It was golden in colour with a white film atop. A middling bitterness, but mostly underwhelming with the Simcoe failing to assert itself. Ok.A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov11 3.0

Cask. Shakespeares, Sheffield. Clear gold. Frothy, lasting, white head. Wow. That’s a lot of Simcoe! Dank, and skunky. Pine resin. Overripe orange. Smells great. Taste is punchy bitter. Some chewy, malty sweetness. Smooth palate. Very easy drinking. Finishes long, lasting, sides of the mouth, bitter. The best cask beer I’ve had in ages.

Cask @ Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. Pours clear gold with bubbly white head. Hoppy citrus aroma. Taste is piney simcoe (of course) with a touch of tropical fruit. Decent.

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a small creamy head. It’s hopped with a very dry texture. Has an earthy-floral nose and taste with sugars evident.
