Bottle shared at chrisoโs May 2014 tasting - London. Thanks to Paul! Pours clear, vibrant amber-gold with a bubbly white froth. The nose has light leathery fruits, earth, apple. Light to medium sweet flavor with notes of dirt, some oxidation, apple skin, musty fruits, old bread. Light to medium bodied with fine/flat carbonation. Finishes with stewed apples and caramel. So so.

Re-tasting (previous 6 - 6.8) Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 17D). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L00720B (BBF 01-05-2022). AROMA: initial medium alcohol aroma with a lacquer character, followed by faint fruitiness. medium-low malt background with an overall caramel quality. APPEARANCE: dark copper color and clear. medium ivory head with good retention. leg formation. TASTE: initial medium to medium-high lacquer notes, followed by medium-low yeasty presence. medium-low malt background with an overall caramel character. low complexity. medium bitterness and a dry finish. hint of stale malt. PALATE: medium-high body with a somewhat velvety texture. alcohol warmth noticeable. average carbonation. OVERALL: a BW with some fermentation issues and a lot boring.

Tasting at the ever gracious ChrisOโs. Thanks to Paul. Hazy deep amber beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is crisp and dry. Good fine carbonation. Tangy malts and tangy toffee. Light dried fruits. Slightly bitter off note before the dry finish. Fun to try but barely passes muster.

Bottle shared at Chriso. It pours deep amber with a small beige head. The nose is sweet, gingerbread, fruit cake, brown sugar and dried fruit. The taste is surprisingly watery, wood, leather, sweetish dried fruits, must/staleness, light bitterness, caramel and toast with a dull, flat finish. Mediumish finish and low carbonation. Smells alright, but taste is a bit watery and dusty.
