Matthew Pale Ale is brewed using local Mendip spring water and unbeatable, English, Maris Otter Malt. The beer is grounded in the versatile English Challenger hop but is given its distinctive floral taste by the American Amarillo hops added at the end of the brewing process. The beer has fresh citrus notes and a clean, dry finish. Tantalizingly fresh!

[Cask at the Bootlegger, High Wycombe] Amber-gold, slight white head. Flowers, lemons and grapefruit. Good flavour for the low ABV, and goes down a treat. Nice!

Cask at the Claude du Vall (JDW), Camberley. Golden amber with an attractive ring of white head; aroma of orange fruit and spicy hops; medium body with rich buttery malts, orange fruit, and crisp apples; then some pungent English hops giving a lasting finish with a hint of nettle. An excellent bitter, particularly for the ABV. The best beer I’ve tried at this JDW festival.

Cask handpull at Samuel Peto JDW Folkestone. Gold light brown with a lasting thin cream coloured head. Little bit of light hop on the aroma. Some ok very light biscuit malt in the mouth. Good dry stingy hop on the finish. Its a tasty light bitter. I rather like it. Its a session bitter with enough stingy finishinh hop to make you want to take another gulp.

Cask, handpump at JDW Exchange, Banbury 28.03.11 Pours gold with a white rim of bubbles. There is a little petal on the nose and the flavour is lightly crisp with a good citrussy edge and a bitterness that builds, touch drying at end. Good beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8
