Medium brown with a pillowy tan head. Chocolate, roasty malt, earthy, bitter burnt notes. Medium, soft body. Finish is lightly burnt bitter malt with some bitter hops, too. A solid, bitter forward brown ale.

On tap at Kernel Spa Road. Dark brown cola coloured beer lasting off white head. Attractive malty hoppy aroma. Brown malt flavour some bitterness some hop presence on the finish. Decent American Brown style beer. OK.

Keg at the tap. Cola brown. Somewhat opaque. Foamy light beige head. Sweet caramel with a citrus edge and herbal buzz. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Tymmer but herbal.

The hops are on the back label. Not what the brewers describe as a different beer. Oh I give up! If Ratebeer wants to fuck itself up by trying to be like Untappd instead of something different and demonstrably superior, then good luck! Almost opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Fairly smooth palate, still has decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, the typical Kernel dark malt bill dialled back a bit. Nice dark malt cream, modest generic biscuit. Very mild touches of roast and dark chocolate. Mellow and fairly ripe citrus from the Taiheke. Smooth finish. Tidy.

Bottle from BeerRitz. It pours darkest brown to black with a thick, foamy tan head. The aroma is earthy roast, toasty, citrus peel, cacao, Terry's chocolate orange and apricot jam. The taste is dry, toasty, decent roast, earthy, woody, toasted nut, toasted pine, cacao nibs, citrus peel, orange rind, nip of spice and a bit of soap with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Nice depth and level of bitterness. Rounded and quaffable. Enjoyable stuff.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Murky, cola brown. Nitro pour-esque pale beige head. Nose has nutty grain. Some burnt sugar. Touch of blackcurrant jam. Taste is nicely balanced sweet and earthy, nutty bitter. Smooth on the palate. Fine, foamy carbonation. Light dry, and light bitter finish. Nice.
