Our standard Oud Bruin that was boiled for 16 hours instead of 1,5h. This turns the beer into a more full version of the famous Oud Bruin and gives it more of a caramal touch.

0.375 l bottle from 'Etre Gourmet', boiled in December 2016. Very hazy, deep ruby with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, sourish, quite vinous-fruity aroma of balsamic vinegar, red wine, oak and some caramel. Slightly sweet, quite sour, rather vinous-fruity taste of red wine, oak, balsamic vinegar, and light caramel, followed by a medium long, fairly tart, slightly woody-dry finish. Medium body, fairly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. A bit too sour for my liking, other than that quite nice, despite its age.

Bottle at home. Pour brownish black witha red hue. Nose is acetic acid, leather, light funk, light berry jam, some plum. Taste is moderate sourness with low acetic and lactic acid notes, some leather, faint fruits and a sudden and sharp, rather unpleasant and out-of-place bitterness to it. Closes with a tart, berry-fruity finish, has light body and soft carbo. That unpleasant bitterness in the taste kinda ruins it.

15 September 2024. At 16de Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke, Kevin & Jerre!

Malt vinegar, cherries, redcurrant, wood. Sour cherry, vinegar, almond, jam. Tart cherry skin, leather & wood. All the characteristics but a bit more easy-drinking perhaps.

Brown. Aroma is dark honey balsamico light toast and hint of sour berries. Taste is sour fresh berries with light sweet base. Not so sour it burns off your tongue but just a mild pleasant freshness. Very drinkable. Finish of fruit and caramel with hints of balsamico. Very nice.

Fles gedeeld met Roelzie. Het is een diep donkerbruin bier met een bruin schuim. Het heeft een zure houtige wat fruitige geur. De smaak is zuur, houtig en turfachtig.

Bottle. Color: Murky reddish brown, thin beige head. Aroma: Sweet and tart, apple syrup. Taste: Balsamico vinegar notes, over moderate tart, light sweet, apple syrup, dark cherries, oak, some tannins and some caramel, hints of vanilla and citric hints. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Nice complexity. Slightly metallic. Ok.
