Draft, small pour in 5 Vines wine bar, San Juan Capistrano on 30th August 2025. Almost black bodied, beige topping. Nice, easy going Stout, no Oysters were harmed in brewing this, not to produce my glass anyway. I did however really enjoy it.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 34C: 20B with whole oysters). Can 47.3 cl - Batch 2996A (BB unreadable). AROMA: medium roasted malt with chocolate notes. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque. medium light brown head, with medium-low to low retention. TASTE: similar to the aroma with medium roasted malt (dark chocolate, slight coffee). medium bitterness with a dry and salty finish. MOUTHFEEL: medium-low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: an american stout made with oysters which doesn't reflect much in the flavor apart from a salty sensation in the aftertaste. still, its easy to drink.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a fairly nice, three centimetre tall light brown head that stays afloat nicely, all above the 80 per cent opaque body. Aroma of roasted malt, molasses, a dash of oats and a good bit of vanilla and sugars, really noticeable near the end of the nose. Medium-bodied; Fairly thinnish malt quality shows at first with some oatmeal, but a really noticeable nutty and earthy note that hits harder, but also shows a slight briney and rustic quality, but not really and not in terms of body. Aftertaste shows some caramelised sugars with a lot of breadiness and yeast qualities at the end, but some walnuts and cashews (very mild ones) hit towards the end with a crisp sweetness from the sugars and a relatively thinnish malt quality from the roasted malts. Overall, a decent beer, but a bit too thin and underwhelming to be a great beer - it hits nicely, but the roasted malts don't provide enough body, there is an underwhelming level of sugars and the brine really is pretty much nonexistent here, in which it should dominate. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Whole Foods in San Francisco (SoMa), California on 08-March-2022 for US$3,99 sampled in my hotel room here in Vacaville, California on 10-March-2022.

Tasty oyster stout, very easygoing and dry, offering up charred chocolate, cascara, espresso, and a touch of cherry, finished off by lingering notes of roast and a modest salinity on the fade. Well made; easy to kill a pint.

Draught At Palace of Barrels, smallish creamy head, opaque black color, aroma of dark bread slightly toasty and a hint of charcoal that is getting stronger, not too bitter chocolate flavor with dark bread and a whiff of coal, really smooth. Nice and enjoyable, easy to drink.

Dark brown, almost black. Not much head. Has a nice sweet malt note, carrying dark demerara sugars and sweeter chocolate character. Sweet, dark fruity, no discernible oyster character. Nice stout.
