It’s a toad not a frog! Unmistakable citrus and floral notes from only the best American Cascade hops balanced with a crisp dry finish make this straw coloured ale a fantastic session beer. All that flavour in a 3.6%.

On cask at the brewery. Smooth floral hops on an English Pale Ale body. Smooth in the aroma, the floral hops fit in nice with malty Ale-characteristics. Smooth fresh floral aftertaste. Great!

A hazed golden orange ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet honey lemon malt with light oxidation, grassy hops. In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with light phenolics, signs of oxidation, treacle, herbaceous hops, OK but way past its prime. BB 12 2011.

Cask at The Red Lion, Waterend, Herts. A golden/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, malty aroma. Tastes hoppy, malty, fruity, slight sweetness. This was remarkably fresh and quite drinkable stuff, decent session beer.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a creamy head. Floral-citrus aroma with a soured but fruity enough taste that provides a fair but medium bitterness.

Cask at the estcourt arms Watford. Aroma is berry hedgerow hop with English esters and touch of caramel malt. Flavour is touch of salty, English yeast and biscuit malts. Copper colour with a loose speckled head. A solid cask beer. Palate is medium light with moderate carbonation. Tasty enough.

Cask at Cricketers Arms, Bedford. Clear mid- to dark golden. Sufficient white head. Faint aroma: vinous and grassy. Full sweet taste with bitter twinges. Hop character dominates. Lingering sour-bitter finish is only downside. Tring do not do bad beers, and this is a very good staple beer, belying its low strength with vibrant personality.

Hand-pulled half-pint in The Crown Inn, Oakengates on 29 Jun 2013. Nice clean amber body, off-white blanket of foam on top. Semi-sweet malty molasses, floral hints with a mild citrusy feel in both the nose and taste. Good balance of flavours with the malts just about winning the overall taste stakes giving the beer a slightly sweeter lean than a hop bitterness. I liked it, and when you consider the alcohol content is only 3.6% ABV the brewer has got a lot of flavours and character into the brew.
