The flavours in this rich and satisfying pint are similar to those found in Polly's Folly, but have extra depth combined with added caramel notes.

For Norwegian Blue 4.9 abv, the same quality Marris Otter malts are used, whilst the wort is flavoured with premium American Mounthood hops..

English Fuggles and Goldings hops provide the balancing bitterness in this malty complex best bitter.

23rd Sep 2016: cask half-pint at the Shrewsbury CAMRA beer festival. This wasn’t great. Amber/old gold body, white affair on top. Malty molasses in the nose a fruit bowl sprinkled with caramel for the taste: did not take to it at all. I usually like malty, semi-sweet brews but this failed to excite.

Cask at the Pickerel, Cambridge. Golden honey. It’s a fresh cask so takes a while to settle. Smells like nothing. Seriously, this has no aroma. Ok... Bit of... hay? Plastic? That actually might be the glass. The taste has more personality than you’d think though. Sweet with a slight bitter hit, fading to toasty caramel and raspberry notes in the finish. Aftertaste brings a bit more lemony bitterness. Medium. So, a mixed bag: pretty boring but slips down easy. There’s something to be said for a ’basic English bitter’ and this is as basic as it gets.

Guest cask at the Pembury Tavern on 27th June 2009. Amber coloured premiume ale with a magnolia coloured head. Delicately sweet aroma with flowery/fruity notes, quite bitter in the kick but finish shortish, some hoppiness but nothing outstanding.
