Pale yellow in colour with moderate fizz - looks very much like an elderflower soft drink. Aroma had some sweet elderflower upfront, followed by heavier and drier apple notes. Flavour was dominated upfront by some pleasant elderflower, before some clashing apple fruits and a finished which combined both flavours in a rather messy manner. Not a very pleasant drink, I was left yearning for an elderflower soft drink.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s, Plymouth. Pale yellow-gold coloured ale. The Elderflower is strong, lingers long in the palate, with a dry taste and is somewhat overbearing.

330ml bottle from Sainsbury’s. Pours greenish yellow, clear. Aroma is elderflower / grandma’s toilet pot pourri. Taste follows, with an old woman dithering around the town market hall character. Herbal with a touch of turkish delight. Can’t say this would be my go-to cider. Unless I became insane.

330ml bottle from Sainsbury. Pours clear pale yellow with no head. Aromas of elderflowers, almost a floral hop thing going on. Taste is very floral, white grape schloer, some astringency, but a sweet finish overall. Alcopop territory.

330ml bottle from Sainsburys. Clear pale yellow colour, short lived thin white bubbly head and aroma of elderflower, fragrant turkish delight, fruity. Taste is very sweet, elderflowers, strong perfumey turkish delight, along with tart sour acidic juicy apple. Slightly spritzy mouthfeel, light bodied, fine to medium carbonation, sweet and sour at the finish. OK as a dessert tipple.

Bottle at home From Sainsbury;s spilt with Sarah. Aroma is big and artificial, parfummed lavender, purple violets and pear drops. Aroma is very sweet as well. Petrol colour with a relucant white head. Fine campagne like bubbles. Flavour is very parfummed and sweet. Pears and slight tart apple skin in the finish, but it’s not enough; this is still way wway sweet.

Bottle at a ChrisO Tasting - London. Pours clear, extremely pale yellow with a few bubbles. Hugely fragrant, like perfume, like a punch of flowers to the face. Medium sweet flavor with tons more flowers along with some herbs. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Outrageously floral and perfumey and very sweet to finish. Somewhat artificial and just way too much perfume.

33cl bottle from Sainsburys Clear very pale gold colour with a thick white head. Certainly quite a lot of elderflower on the aroma. Yes, not entirely sure I like this. I like elderflower in something like Dark Star Hylder Blond, but not sure it works so well in a cider. Definitely herby. But it’s a bit sweet and it’s just not really very good as a combination of flavours and the sweetness is just too much. Glad it’s only a 33cl bottle.
