330ml bottle @ Chez Sophie. Pours dark brown, mocha head. Strong coffee aroma, some cocoa. Taste is smooth, milk chocolate, coffee not as prominent on the palate but still an enjoyable, smooth, chocolately stout.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours deep brown with a frothy beige head that recedes rather quickly. The nose holds note of tangy coffee, milk chocolate, toasted toffee, ripening berries. Light to medium sweet flavour with further tangy coffee character, understated cocoa, hints of rubber, earth, cherry, blackberry. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Fairly sweet on the finish, with more subtle rubber, tangy and lightly aged coffee, touches of bittersweet chocolate, more ripening berries. The tangy note is not entirely enjoyable, and to be honest, the intensity of the coffee is not that impressive. I wonder if something is amiss here. It’s drinkable stuff, but I expected a lot more.

Bottle from Bottle Baron. Black body with a medium tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of espresso, Twiglets and a hint of black grape. Flavour of burnt wood, liquorice and a tangy, fruity espresso. Thin to medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Very tangy and full flavoured but the body is disappointingly thin.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Cotteridge, Birmingham, consumed at Cirencester Park. Caravan Club campsite, Friday 29th July 2016 Pours very dark brown with a skimmy light beige sticky head, a little fruity tang on the nose and also in the mouth. Really tangy coffee, there is an extra shot though according to the blurb, this was fine but from recollection I prefer the standard version. A7 A4 T7 P4 OV14 3.6

Keg at the Beer Kat. Thanks to Colin for the headsup. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry with reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts and smooth rich coffee, just slightly earthy. Smooth dark malt cream keeps the bitterness at bay. Smooth finish. One of the smoothest coffee stouts I can recall. Very drinkable.

Keg at Beerkat, 01/07/16. Light black with a decent tan cap. Nose is burnt toffee, molasses, coffee, chocolate, light roast. Taste comprises big coffee grinds, light spice, toasted brown sugar, chocolate chip, coffee cake. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with roast malt evident. Solid coffee stout ... great balance of bitter and sweet.

Keg at the beer kat. Opaque viscous dark brown black coloured pour with a relucunt dark tan head. Aroma is nice sweet earthy coffee, woody, praline, coffee bean, brown sugars. Flavour is composed of spicy woody coffee bean, earth, dirt, sweet praline, hints of amaretto. Some fruit cake, spicy coffee. Palate is medium full, creamy, highish carbonation. Semi crisp finish. Nice. I dig the earthy dirty coffee character.

Keg at BeerKat. It pours darkest brown with a thick light tan head. The aroma is big, rich, massive coffee character, dark chocolate, earthy roast, spice, umami and slightly meaty. The taste is smooth, rich, unctuous coffee character, toasted malt, mild acidity, dark chocolate, drying tannins and some dried fruits/fruit cake. Finish is drying coffee. Medium body and fine carbonation. Rich and well-balanced. Packs a lot of flavour into that 6.5%
