Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a nice foamy head. Aroma of caramelized cereal notes with some toffee. Taste is also dominated by some caramelized sugar notes with some toffee and light butter notes. Finish is dryer then I would have expected. Body is full enough for style with good amount of carbonation. Nice beer but I thought it fell a bit short on the drinkability and smoothness.

Draught. Dark brown with small beige foamy head that disappeared quickly, faint fruity aroma, low carbonation, oak flavored thin bodied beer that is dominated by the alcohol overtones, a late metallic taste, medium finish with slightly bitter aftertaste. A lot of things going on with this beer bit not really converging on a great result!

Aroma is very fruity with quite a bit of fig and prune with lighter plum and raisin notes. Medium strong caramel notes with some light toasted bread. Hints of alcohol. As it warms there are hints of darker malts and a tootsie roll type aroma. Pours a murky brown with some copper and amber highlights. Faint light tan head that quickly recedes to the edges. No lacing but some medium sized legs. Flavor is moderately sweet and again has a lot of fruit to it, but more plum and prune than fig and raisin. Moderate caramel note with a medium light toasted bread character. Light toffee and a hint of chocolate along with a faint roast character. Light oxidation setting in with a touch of a paper character. Medium bitterness. Lingering caramel, prune and raisin as well as the tootsie roll flavor. Alcohol is surprisingly well hidden but is present late palette. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium low carbonation; its a bit silky. Low but present astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall an alright beer but I would expect something more from a beer held for 3 years then released as a special one off. The fruit notes were fairly dominant and there was a bit too much oxidation showing through. The name character was pretty nice but I wish it played a more prominent role and was perhaps a bit fresher.
