Nose is roasted malts, espresso, slight raisin and dust. Taste is slight cola, espresso, smoke, roasted malts, a little grass. It’s an OK stout.

Bottle at home in London - picked up a while ago at some Sainsburys. Pours clear, deep red-brown with a modest, tighy creamy beige head. Nose shows very slight sings of age, dark fruits, port, milk chocolate. Light to medium sweet flavor with mellow roast, milk chocolate, dark fruits, toasty bread, brownies, light dry dirt. Light to medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Sweet finish with rich cocoa, chocolate cake, some moderate roast, light earthy bitterness, more semi-ripe dark fruits, more well toasted bread. Pretty impressive, really.

500ml bottle. Black in colour, foam tan head leaving some lacing, and an aroma of roast malt with coffee-ish notes. Taste is roast/ burnt malt, coffee, chocolate, dark fruits, and a grassy spicey hop bitterness. Body is rich, with some residual sweetness and a dry bitter finish. Quite OK.

Very dark brown colour. This has some chocolately malts and a rich, fruity background like port and dried fruits. Rich, smooth and sweet taste.

Znakomity czekoladowy stout.

500ml bottle: best before 28 Nov 2012, poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard during May 2012 (on a wet and cold Friday evening). Looks good: deep dark chocolte brown/black body with a full, bulging tanned head. Dark chocolate and coffee in the nose: liquorice somewhere in the smell as well. Malty flavours like the smells hit the mouth: semi-sweet at first but with a mildly burnt/roasted/toasted bitterness coming through after the initial molasses hit. Not really rich or creamy, but it sits well and slips down very easily. Nice.

500ml bottle from Ashford Sainsburys drunk at home during the Duvel mass tasting. Black beer with dark beige lasting head. Dark fruity choccy raisiny aroma. Good carbonation in the mouth balanced in this beer. Good balance throughout. Love the fruits. Some plum prune and blackberry. Almost blueberry actually. Some hop and dryness and maltyness on the finish. I thought this was pretty damn good. Black Sheep’s answer to Old Peculier? I thought really decent. Loved the mouthfeel and the fruits and the drinkability.
