Bottle from Hop Pole Shop, Aylesbury, Bucks, Consumed at home Sunday 12th October 2014. Twangy, fruity beer, yep it’s fruity with a little touch of tartness. Good brambley edge but stoutiness showing ok though it is a touch thin and a little watery. Its ok but nothing particularly exciting. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Cask gravity at the Rake. It pours near black with a smallish tan head. The nose is roasted malt, coffee, caramel, chocolate and light berry sweetness. The taste is soft, watery, roasted malt, toast, sweet berry, ash and dark fruits with a dry, watery finish. Thin body and low carbonation. Too thin and watery unfortunately....

Cask @ White Lion, Heptonstall. Almost black, but not quite with a thin off-white head. Small roasted aroma and taste, although very drinkable.

Cask @ Manchester Beer & Cider Festival Jan 14. Their chili plum porter made me sit up & pay attention last year and I loved Offbeat Brewery’s blackberry mild so was rather looking to this. Unfortunately, for some reason or other this just didn’t hit the mark. Got next to no blackberries in the taste and texture appeared watery and bland. Must find a bottle so I can re-rate.

Bottle @ home thx to der Benzai. Opaque dark brown colour with a medium sized, slightly creamy off-white head. Smells red fruits, slightly sourish, some liquorish, slightly roasty. Tastes liquorice, roasty, hint of sour, forrest fruits, hint of iron. Medium body, nice carbo.
