Gingerness in the aroma, but not overly pleasant, and neither is its spicy taste.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Pale amber-copper, moderate white head, slight prickly fizz. Ginger is certainly the domninant flavour, but not overwhelmingly so, and it’s not too hot and spicy either. The underlying beer still shows through, and it’s as decent a beer as you’d expect from this often impressive brewery. Superb balance between the ginger & the beer - really enjoyed this.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Amber with a thin off-white head that left lots of lacing on the glass; spicy ginger aroma; the initial taste has lots of fresh root ginger, then this changes to a more ground ginger feel - definitely ginger though!; the finish is dry with more ginger and a valiant showing from the hops which stand up well against all things ginger. A ginger beer.

Cask, handpull at The Standing Order, JDW, Edinburgh, with Craig, Rob (Rob’s mate) Jan, Charlotte & Loz, 29.10.10 Pours gold/amber with filmy white head. There is a slight ginger burn and whilst the ginger is very noticeable it comes across as more powdery than root ginger. I like it. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov13 3.2

Cask handpull at Thomas Ingoldsby, JDW, Canterbury. Some haze gold. Touch of orange on colour, thin white head. Ginger and diacetyl? Not good. Some ginger but lacks body. Really disappointed with Bath. They can make good beers. But been so disappointed with them. Some ginger biscuit on aroma. Lacks body in middle. Not great.
