Bottled. Deep amber colour with a small white foamy head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is bread, some nutty tones with mild wood and herbs. Flavour is grainy, some herbal, mild bready as well as some grassy elements. Actually a bit harsh overall.

Mahogany color with a frothy white head that slowly fades. Aroma of pears, caramel, Backhaus Brot. Taste is mildly sweet with some mild roasted bitterness on the backside. Medium bodied, balanced carbonation. Not bad.

330 ml bottle. Pours dark unclear amber, fluffy head. Roasted malt, dark bread, roasted breadcrumbs, lemon, caramel, chocolate, metal. Dry bitterness, malty sweetness. Full bodied, oily texture, lively carbonated, dry finish. Good, but far away from a Märzen. This is more an Amber Lager or a Dunkel.

How about an Oktoberfest style beer brewed in Germany and also purchased there? Done in Berlin a couple of days ago. I have a .33 liter bottle being poured into a tall bar glass for my 500th. The arrival is an attractive caramel-brown liquid and a generous head of tan foam. The scent is wheat bread and toffee. I taste malt, caramel and bark finishing with a decent bitterness. A nice departure from the German pilsners.

Bottle picked up from Edeka, Stein Park Freising, and consumed at home Attenkirchen, Tuesday 18th June 2019 whilst listening to Steve Lamaq on 6 Music and cooking a Thai Red Curry. Pours mid brown with a head that swiftly departs. Some toffee, malty, sweet and quite straightforward. This is not unlike a malty bitter, that isn't at all bitter. Ok but my least favourite of the range so far, though perhaps that suggests that Marzen is a little lower down on the scale of my likes.

0.33 l bottle from 'EDEKA Preller' (Breckerfeld)', best before August 2020. Clear, deep reddish amber with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity aroma of caramel, raisins, red fruits and a touch of nuts. Fairly sweet, malty, minimally bitter, gently fruity taste of caramel, raisins, red fruits, a touch of nuts and traces of grains, followed by a short, moderately bitter, minimally grassy-spicy finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very pleasant even if a little too sweet, well done!
