Cask at the Rose and Crown, Sandhurst. Chestnut with a dense cream head; nutty malt aroma; full on malt taste - with sweet chewy caramel and also some sourish fruit, roasted nuts and chocolate; rounded off with a pleasant, deep, lingering, English hop bitterness. Really good.

Copper coloured with a thick creamy head. Is smooth with a best bitter quality. Has some slight sweet malts in its aroma.

12th May 2012 saw me on a pub crawl of Shrewsbury: fourth pub was ‘The Wheatsheaf’ and a hand pulled pint of this malty, amber brew. Good looking beer: nice amber to darker red colouring with a white foaming head which gave some impressive lacing. The nose was earthy malts and nutty hops. Tasted slightly different to your normal English Bitters: dry feel to the flavours, thirst quenching for sure, but something missing within the whole package. Medium bodied and almost interesting.

Gravity cask at the Bree Louise, London. Pours clear gold with a faint, buly head. Toasty dough aroma with subtle berry notes. Light to medium sweet flavor, some toasty and lightly buttery dough, light caramel, faint pine and wood. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation. Sweet, lightly sticky finish, more doughy toast, some modest caramel, faint tangy berries, very mild grassy bitterness, some leaves. Half decent.

A cask of this one was put on display at The White Star in Stoke just as we were about to leave the pub. So we had to stay for another half pint. Copper-amber body colour with kirchenfenster on the glass. Fruit hoppy aroma. Taste of resinous hops moving in the direction of dried fruits. Distinct bitter endnotes that last for a while. Fine balanced and easy to drink (02.05.2009).

Cask gravity at The George, Bethersden. Copper colour with lasting off white head. Odd pond weed hop aroma. More like a bitter in th e mouth with nice enought finish, but still with this odd rubbery pond weed flavour. Slightly vegetal.
