Cask at Deep Ellum, Boston. Well-served. Copper color, surface head, fantastic lacing. Aroma of black pepper, malt, lime. Taste is bitter from start to finish, smoky edge, dry finish. Classic example of the style. top notch.

Cask at the Cambridge Blue, Cambridge. Bright gold with a thin white head; heady, fruity aroma with apricot and cherry; thick oily body with the same fruity flavours and unctious chewy malts; the finish is dry with some sour fruit and a rounded gentle bitterness and no sign of the alcohol, so not as warming as promised, but nevertheless an excellent strong ale.

I was putting this off for a while, not sure why, I guess a British brett beer made me waver a bit. It pours a very thick dark amber color, gets murky and dirty with the bottom of the bottle. However, it has a small head, yet a sticky lacing. Aroma is all brett, man, don’t matter what is going on underneath it is all brett. Its a sweet and herbal mix of tart, leather, and earthy brett. Taste is all bretty but a bit too oily sweet for me not bad, just not as complex and layered as it is in the aroma. The weird thing is the aftertaste is an extremely dry herbal flowers. Its a sweet and oily, yet herbal at the same time. This makes for an interesting mouthfeel, slick, light, sticky and filling all at the same time. As far as I know brett this is at least a year in the bottle if not much more.

Pours clear copper with decent looking tan head and some spotty lacing. It has a nice full aroma with apples, pears, a touch of spice, coconut and sugary malts. Interesting. The taste begins old ale like with dark fruitiness and brown sugar. It ends with white wine notes. Tasty stuff. Seems like a 9% abv brew. So abv isn’t too well hidden.

Angry fist of Santa tasting at Chris_o’s. Hazy amber, lasting beige, light acidic hop aroma. Decent hops. Little bit light in the malts. But it’s fine. It’s fine, but not great.

Thanks to the owner of Aldgate for pulling this brew out and sharing it with us. Copper with a foamy white head. Aroma of fruits, sweet malts, hops, some floral. The fruits add a nice twist to the flvor here when I was expecting mainly hops. Finish is tart and bitter. Different, but enjoyable.

Strange name for a beer. Sour aroma that includes some wheat as well as citrus and yeast. Cloudy yellow color with a moderate head. Flavor has more sourness. Low carbonation. One of the better aromas I have had in some time.

Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Dark amber. Fruity nose. Sweet and richly malty with restrained hops, some plums and rather clean mouthfeel. Mild, yet warming with notes of butter. The finish is surprisingly bitter. A beer perfectly suitable for sipping bh the fireside.

500 mL bottle. Bottle conditioned dull brown (maple-to-mahogany like Barry said) colored body, whispy off-white head, with good retention. Smells dry, earthy, fuggley and almost like Brettanomyces. Some light roast, dry pear skins and a deep, fruit and rum raisin sort of thing. Funky, strange, unique. Flavor takes that idea and runs with it. Begins dirty, yeasty, earthy, very "burtonized" shall we say, with tingly carbonation, rich gingerbread maltiness, prunes, limes and toffee. More of the strange brett-like character. Medium-full body, waxing a tad sweet on the end. I’ve had two bottles of this recently both the same batch, same cellar conditions and both were quite different. One I absolutely loved, another I didnt, so much. Very difficult beer to rate. I will be getting more of it and polishing up my rating, but I wanted to get something down for this one.

Cloudy brown pour with immense, frothy head - dough, yeasty aroma - very dry, tart, with hints of banana and clove - bitter in the finish, and not much else - very out of balance.
