Bottle, 5.3%. Clear yellow colour. The flavour is grainy, not sour. Has a hint of butter. Some paper in the finish.

Clear golden with a tiny white head. Sweet and malty aroma with hints of fruit. Sweet and malty flavour with fruity and grainy notes. Finished sweet.

Wow - neat that they sell this at the LCBO in Canada - still not a good beer, but definitely neat to see. Super clear golden coloured body with almost no head at all. Aroma of cat pee, fish, water, rice, sugar, honey and a touch of malt - pretty bad. Light-bodied; Tastes like water with some rice, sugar and a touch of grain thrown in. Aftertaste mild and light, as you’d expect. Overall, a pretty bad beer, but if you were in the heat in Guangzhou on the Pearl River (my version of this beer), you might want this too - or you might want to hop down to Hong Kong. Great to try - my last beer brought back from Guangzhou, PRC purchased at a small store in 2007 in China, sampled at home in Washington on 08-December-2009 in a 355 mL pull-top (the best kind) can with a black logo, labeled as Pearl River Lager, Since 1985.

Bottle: Poured a pale yellow color lager with a medium foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma is pretty weak with some light sweet malt but no discernable adjunct. Taste is very bland but no discernable flaws either. Not much malt and no discernable hops but no major flaws or default either (adjunct, skunk…)

0.33l bottle purchased at a Chinese fast food/restaurant directly across the train station in Ljubljana. Poured a pale yellow body with a small head that went away fast. Fizzy. Fruity nose, rice, alcohol? Before tasting it, one really gets prepared for the worst. And to my surprise and relief, the taste saves the day. Candyish fakeish fruity sweet malty taste... maybe corn but I doubt it. Really can’t call it unpleasant, it’s simple, slightly odd, but I’ve had much worse. A drinkable sweet pale lager.

0.33 l bottle Doggythedog brought from Ljubljana, so thanks a lot! Poured pale yellow body with smaller head. Weak aroma, somewhat malty with notes of rice. Grainy and a bit strange orange fruity flavor, not particularly nice and thin bodied, but interesting as it was different. Slightly sweetish. Tsingtao was "different" in the same way as I could recall. Sweetish finish. Not bad like I can read here, but nothing special for sure.

33 cL bottle. Pours clear yellow with a crispy and diminishing white head. Mild malt aroma, medium dry. Flavour starts somewhat sweet malty before it turns to a slight cardboard note and more dry before the finish. Bland and short finish, no bitterness.

Bottle, picked up from the Dodgy Deli (Classic Deli) Cowley Rd, Oxford 09-02-07 for 39p a bottle. I didn’t check the date on this but I’m sure that it would have been running close. Poured a pale golden colour with sweet malts and a slightly artificial taste and metallic tang to it, but I’ve had worse and whilst not great it was just about passable.

Bottled(330ml). -Like other two Chinese beers (Siwo Beer and Tsingtao) that I’ve tried before, this one is watery and weak. Weak aroma of malt, rice and maize, lively carbonation.

[Bottled, sold in Hong Kong as Pearl River Lager Beer] Fizzy pale yellow. Light lemony rice aroma. Sweetish and bland. More resembling sparkling water than beer. Some fruity rice finishes it off.
