Cask at the Wellington Arms, Bedford. Light brown, with a decent lively white head. Woody, floral bouquet with green berry. Clean, lightly bitter taste. Slight tannic notes toward the finish. Fairly inconsequential but for a low ABV bitter I found this enjoyable.

Cask at the Jolly Farmers, Lewisham. For some reason I’ve got this down as ’Rudolph’s Revenge’, what he was seeking vengeance for I’ve no idea. Anyway, chestnut brown pour with a white head. Malt and toffee aroma. Dates, sweet spice and pepper flavour. Not too bad.

(cask@The jolly farmers, SE London) Dark amber/brown pour with medium off white head, and body is rather thin. Aroma/taste is very malty. caramel, biscuit, nutty dark fruits with a bitter finish. Not bad, kind of average overall.

Golden ale with a mild fruit spiced aroma, but apt for a seasonal winter beer. It has a spicy undercurrent for its flavour and can be classed as a winter warmer.

Cask at the John Russell Fox (JDW), Andover. Reddish amber with a loose cream head that laces the glass nicely; fruity aroma; thin in the mouth with some sour purple fruits and caramel malts; then a thin and dry finish that is less than satisfying. I pity Rudolph, there are far better rewards out there for the taking!
