For our take on the classic hefeweizen style our search for unique ingredients led us to the Eureka and Lisbon varieties of lemon grown in three different regions of California. These particular lemons added the perfect balance of citrus tartness and sweetness to accent the taste of the beer. The spiciness of the Hallertau Mittelfruh and Spalt Spalter hops balance out the slightly sweet character of our brewery's own signature wheat malt, resulting in a crisp and refreshing wheat beer with a subtle lemon aroma and flavor.

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a very large (five centimetres) white head. Aroma of lemons, wheat, malt and a very strong clenser aroma - interesting and not too appetising. Light-bodied; Strong lemon flavour with a VERY strong pledge and cleaning product taste - way too strong. Aftertaste still tastes like soap or lemon pledge - gross. Overall, a beer with bad off-tastes and a not pleasant beer at all. Not recommended by me. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 15-June-2010 sampled at home in Washington on 17-July-2010.

Purchased in Nashville on my trip to Tennessee in a 6-pack sampler. Pours a hazy golden-yellow with a frothy white head, average retention and a bit of patchy lacing. Quite wheaty with malty scent and hints of citrus (lemon and orange). Notes of yeast and lightly carbonated. Medium-bodied with a little stickiness. Citrus tasting with light wheat. A nice refreshing summer wheat ale that is not as light as most macros, but not overpowering.

This brew is a slightly hazed yellow-gold color with a medium white head that burns away steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of lemons and wheat. Light and crisp body with flavors of citrus, wheat and light spice. The finish is citrusy and clean with a short wheaty aftertaste. Average and forgettable overall.

Bottle from South Bay Drug. Pours hazy orange gold with some white head. Aroma is kind of musty with lemon. Near medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is kind of paper/wheat with lemon - which doesn’t conceal the wheat. An ok drink, but far from exciting.

Bottle 12fl.oz. @ home.[ Trade by Maria ]. Light unclear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate yeasty, spicy, artificial lemon peel, light coriander. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, spicy soap bitter, lime stone - chalk alike, artificial. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. Six pack ($10): Pours a hazy orange/yellow colour with a solid white head. Citrus and wheat aromas. A little watery, with a lemon finish that actually has a creamy element. Some small amount of hops. Easy drinking. Not that great, but refreshing and sessionable.

This is supposed to be a take on a hefeweizen? I think not - no hefe character to speak of - this is more like it’s classification on the site - a straight-up american wheat ale, and a boring one at that - the lemon is not subtle at all - in fact, it is the first and most potent thing I taste - there is some wheat malt character in there, too, but the malt character is very thin overall, making for a very watery beer - spritzy carbonation combines with this quality to make for a drinking experience not unlike lemon seltzer - overall very watered-down and bland.

A hazed golden with a thin a thin creamy white head. Light aroma of fruity esters, grainy, non-descript. In mouth, a smooth grassy malt with light bananas, not bad but rather simple, light hops in finale. Tasted at CNY brewfest, Feb. 6 2010.

Bottled at Bishop’s Arms Folkungagatan, Stockholm. Cloudy golden, creamy head. Perfumy marmelade aroma. Fairly sweet with medium body and compact mouthfeel. Orange marmelade and herbal spices. A drinkable, though somewhat bold beer. Typical Sam Adams, good, distinctive but not outstanding.
