Bottled 7/9/15, shared by AdamC on 5/21/16.
Golden-blonde body has a touch of muted brass. Good clarity, leaving the sediment behind and a white head that shows moderate retention.
Brett is fairly perfumey but shows some more mild guava and lime skin notes. A lovely malt character sits behind it, adding rustic cereal notes, with the various grains showing nicely. Light pear and vanilla linger on the end with no alcohol or flaw. Some light minerality and wet hay give saison character and a delightfully mild sulfur note can’t help but charm. It’s not terribly saison-like, overall, with not much of a yeast profile but seems more like a rustic brett golden ale, which is fine. The grains are certainly enjoyable and add complexity and I love the light sulfur.
Soft, lightly malty texture shows both the softness/chewiness of the wheat and rye. Hints of honey and vanilla back a guava-lime character with some strong lemon suggestions. Tight carbonation, no alcohol or flaw. I like that it’s not terribly tart and retains a good fruity vibrancy with plentiful malt/grain characteristics. Not much of a traditional saison, but again, it works well as a brett golden ale, which is basically what most brewers making these "saisons" are actually putting out. But I’m less concerned about what it’s called than how it is brewed and this one is brewed well.

Draft. Hazy light golden body with a frothy white head. Brett and more brett in the nose — farmyard and horse blanket along with toasted grain, cracker, light citrus. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/creamy texture, lively carbonation. Lightly sweet aftertaste. Less than bone dry, but enjoyable. Taste of lacquer, funk, mustiness and fruit. The problem for me with many brett saisons like this is that the brett is so dominant you have to dig deep to get any delicacies, one of the pleasures of good saisons.
