Draft at the brew pub. 5 oz taster. Nose is almost nothing at all. Light weak roast at best. Taste is average. Chocolate malt, light espresso notes. Roasted barley. The finish doesn’t really longer. It’s short and dry. Average without any problems.

Cask at GBBF. Very dark brown beer, just about transparent. Softish palate. Rich malt with a light roast. Well hopped. Not bad, perhaps a bit hoppy.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured dark brown with a gray head that dissipated slowly to the edges and laced nicely. Aroma was full of roasted malt with a bit of bitter backing hop and a hint of dryness. Flavor began with chocolate and roasted malt with a backing pine note. Finish was slightly dry.

Shaker pint pour at the brewpub in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Pour is a murky brown with a smallish tan head. Nice coating lacing lines the glass as it goes down. Aroma is soft natural roast and bright pine. Nice integrated, fresh, clean nose. Taste is creamy roast malt along with the pine hoppiness. Palate is medium bodied, with a nice active carbonation and a crisp dry bitter finish. Straight forward, but really clean and drinkable.

Gravity cask, one-third pint from the USA bar, GBBF 09. Black as pitch, possible a bit cloudy. Bubbly low beige head. Sweet smell of lacteal malts and hoppy fruits. Comprehensive flavour of dark caramel, slightly roasted, nicely followed by a good amount dark fruits. Sophisticated porter, very pleasing (Earls Court, 06.08.2009).
