Goblet pour at the Hopleaf. Thick amber in color with no clarity and a big strong head. As it fades leaves behind a sticky lacing. Aroma is... wow on the nose. A beautiful cleaned up yeast fruitiness (light apple and pear) backed up by a great bretty lemon character. Light phenolics and goats oil coming off the brett as well but adds to the bouquet of many disparate aspects in the nose. Flavor is good but not quite as good as the aroma lets on. The brett seems to have ate up a lot of beer character. Basically, a wild tart orange flavor with a long sweet candy finish. Has a strong carbonation yet a full mouthfeel. Really enjoyed the crap out of this beer, wish it wasn’t so expensive.

Notes from last night. Aroma somewhat muted but with balanced light notes of pear esters, pepper phenolics and light malt. Faint tartness and moderate oak notes. Esters and phenolics improve as it warms. Pours a cloudy golden orange with a big pillowy white head with nice retention. Medium lacing. Flavor is surprisingly tart with a moderate oak note. Moderate fruitiness with pear and a light cider note. Light mineral quality to the water with medium low bitterness. Light peppery phenolic note and medium low citrus character. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied w/moderate carbonation. Light acidic astringency with medium alcohol warmth. Overall an impressive Saison though the aroma is a bit light. Good yeast character with nice esters and complimentary phenolics. Well balanced oak notes add a nice complexity.
