Bottle 34,1 cl. Courtesy of Siroy. Clear dark amber golden with a small, off-white head. Aroma of overripe fruit and burned caramel. Quite full-bodied with roasted malts and burned caramel - but no real peatiness. The finish is dry with some alcohol showing. 040409

Late 2005 bottle from Rastacouere drunk on 7/3/06.
Filtered and force carbonated, the head is not long retained at this point in the beer’s age. Light beige in color, producing no lacing. The body is clear, but a strong ruby-magenta glow with some dark chestnut hues is quite vivid.
Looking for Ringwood in the nose, it dosent take long to find a strong fruitiness, fully buttressed by sweet, buttercreamy malts that thicken things and seem quite heavy. Not really oxidized, but just dull, stale and old. Little hops, if any, with mushy graham crackers and a touch of coffee-tinged chocolate.
More thick, creamy-sweet malts appear in the flavor, intersparsed with minerals and artificially flavored vanilla mixed with marshmallows. Without getting too ridiculous with my descriptions, let’s just say it’s very sweet, with hints of dry nuts and light coffee on the end. Bits of fruitiness do not add much and just get lost. Low carbonation at this point makes things all the more heavy. Very faint touches of dry alcohol on the end.
I was hoping this one would gain some character/intrigue with age, but it looks like this one was best drunk fresh.

Bottle from Dumdum’s cave, 1999, tasted 28/01/05 at Institut Scotch Ale tasting. Red copper ale with barely any head. Sweet malt and cherry notes, with sherry notes and roasted chocolate. Sweet malt and wine taste, with leather notes, pungeant and complex. Alcohol warmth present dropping quickly. Rich and warm with a quick finnish. 8-3-8-4-15
2001 bottle. Orange brown ale with a good off white head. Vinous aroma with more burned sugar and some barnyard. Thinner than 1999, yet interesting. Scotch malt in mouth, with peaty notes. 8-3-7-3-14

Bottle: Poured a clear dark brown color ale with a big head with limited retention. Aroma with hints of smoke and sweet malt. Taste is lighter then expected with some sweet malt and a light bitter finish. Body is defiantly too thin for the style and IMHO carbonation is too high for the style. Quite deceiving and not even close to my recollection of the original beer that was brewed years ago.

Cloudy dark amber ale, creamy head. Nice malt aroma, strong malt flavour, like a barley wine, full bodied. Good final.
